I After marching through the principal streets of the oily aid Allegheny, the cortege stopped on Fifth street, opposite the new Hall, when the grand offi ears passed to the north-east corner of the building, and proceeded to lay the corner stone, with the usual solemn and impressive ceremonies. AL this time an immense crowd was present, the thoroughfare from Wood to Smithfield street, being crowded with a Algae mass of spectators, the larger portion of whom wore hiskies. ' lai Friendship I lay this stone, earnestly praying that while it retains its place among its fellows in the firm wall, the brethren whoa sseruble hero !maybe as firmly tutund together in the bt 'ads of Friendship, cordial and sincere. " In Love I lay this stone, earnest. 'Y praying that as it underlies and supports the edifice, so may Love lie at the bottom of our hearts, and ,bul , Purt the whole superstructure of our lives. "In Truth I lay this stone, earnestly pray in g ‘ t h at unblemished Tru th and Honor may ever reig,' " er e supreme, and govern all that is here said and t'"ne. " In the name of Benevolence and Charity I . l ay this stone. And may God in his mery grant that ;t may never be removed so lung as Benevolence and Charity are dear to the hearts of men." During the recital of the /there, flowers and wheat were strewn upon the stone, and at the conclusion a trowel, with mortar, was delivered by the Architect, Mr. Bartberger, to the Grand Master, who spread it upon the stone, and continued as follows: " As this cement binds together the stones of the so may the cement of brotherly affection bind us together during all the days of our lives here be ( low; and so may the cement of tht Divine Love, in our Father's own Lime, unite us us living stones in • the Temple above, the ' house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.'"
