TroWs Oil Globe• for Steam H.nginer POUT PITT IRON WORITS, Pittsburgh, April 14th, 1856. Ma. M. F. Eeros—Eir Mr. George Trott'. "patent Oil Globes. have been in one on the Engines to our Works for three or four years past, and have performed so satiosetorY, that we now apply them to all the Engines we make. For two years past we have abandoned the use of ani other kind of Oil Globes. Respectfully, yours, Prrrammen, April 12, 1850 et. F. EATON, Eee. Dear Sir,—Having need G. Trott's "Patent Oil Globe" ou almost all the steam engines furnished the last year, and In asmuch as they appear to have given entire satiefaction to our customers, we have no hesitation in recommending them as a good article, and much preferable on account of their simplicity of construction, to the old fashioned Oil Globes, or any other of which we have any knowledge. Very respectfully yours, F. A, W. M. FABER & CO., Engine Builders. This certifies that the Oil Cup patented by Mr. Trott, has been in use on our mad for two years past. We find it to be an economical and durable Oil Cup, and can recommend it ea such. GEO. W. GISLER, Foreman of Pittsburgh Shop of Penna. Central RR. November 29th, 1854. To M. F. RATON, ESQ.: This certifies that we have hod in nee the patent Oil Globes or Cups, sold by Moses F. Eaton, Esq., of Pittsburgh, and consider them very much superior to any thing of the kind we have ever used. ALFRED TlialLAS, Treasurer Ohio Tool Company. Columbus, Ohio, November 27, LS5b. ap24 From the New York Scientific American.] Patent Finishing Plane. This invention Is intended for use where it is desired to int. part r, fine, smooth, and glossy surface to the wood; but it is applicable, with advantage, to all kind of earpentee's planes. The novelty consists in placing the cutting chisel. or bit, in front of the wedge, inwtoad of behind, es in common planes; also in applying a metallic mouth-piece to the face of the plane, in front of the chisel, which mouth piece serves as the rest for the chisel, and confines the throat of the plane. But the mouth piece is so clam to the edge of the bit as to prevent the plane from ripping or splintering the wood in the least degree. Indeed, we have seen the implement ap plied ',the planing of wood against the grain, and trans verseiy to the grain, leaving the wood perfectly smooth. So perfect is the operation of this instrument, that it may be ap plied to the planing of veneers—with entire •access—a thing which cannot safely be done by the common plane. The peculiar arrangement of the mouth piece, bit, and wedge, affords a complete and firm bearing for the bit throughout its whole length, and dispenses, under all cir cumstatima, with the :use of a tap or double bit. This is a very simple and effectlve improvement, destitcd, we have no doubt, to find its way into every carpenter's chop in the laud. No tool chest is complete without tl. The in. venter is "Wm; C: Hopper, of Flittsbnruh, Pa, and his patent bears date January 16, 186.5, Sir - MUSES F. EATON, No. 139 First street, Agent fur the patentee.
