A Western Pante' Literary Associatiou.—A meet
ing of the Steamboat Pilots, now in port, WWI held
yesterday afternoon, on hoard the steamer, I'. S.
Mail, at which the following preamble and resuln-
Cons were adopted :
Whereas. Owing to causes of complaints coming
from Pilots navigating the Western waters, and liv
ing eut of the city of Cincinnati, and believing it to
be for our own benefit, as well as for the benefit of
the Steam Boat Owners connected with us, to form
ourselves into a Literary Society, for the purpose of
eliciting a full and free interchange of opinions on all
matters connected with the navigation of the Wes
tern waters, to promote a general good feeling, and to
act in good faith towards each other.
And in order to more fully accomplish this object,
we cheerfully invite all Pilots living in or out of Cin
cinnati to join with us in establishing a Library and
Reading Room, to be located in Cincinnati, for the
purposes above named. It is evident that shonld the
acme state of things continue that has existed for the
time past, it will have a tendency to demoralize and
lower us in the estimation of the mercantile commit.
nity. It is time that we cease to destroy each other,
(which our previous course has been so well calcula
ted to effect,) and to endeavor to regain that position
to which we are so justly entitled. In view of the
foregoing, be it
Resolved, That we, the undersigned , will form
ourselves into a Society for the purposes above
named, and will use all honorable means to sustain
the integrity and moral hearing of the same.
Resolreei, That no other guarantee shall be re
quired fur full compliance with the following Rules,
than our signatures., which shall be considered an in
dex to our honor.
Resoired, That the name and stjle of this Associ
ation shall be " The li'pe ern l'itofe . I,f treary A saw,. -

and Owners, interested in the navigation of the Nl-es
tern waters, wishing to become members.
I?eenlred, That a book be kept for the purpose of
entering thoeri e, notices of all obstrnetions to navi
gation, changes of channel, stages of water through
the difficult places, and any other information thought
beneficial to the Association.

above named, n hall 1,0 expected to record the RAMC,
in the book kept for that purpose. as soon after en

Reeolred That it hook shall be kept for Pilots be

to enter their names in. so that any Captain wanting
a Pilot may. by going to the Associations Boom, find
what Pilots are in port, and can he relied on to go

and in others effected a decided cure.
When eminent physicians prescribe, and their patients so

and eagerly teat Ito virtnes for urselves.
FINER A D AGILE.
A Case of Eight Months' St4nding (hind tv...iloeshort, Mi.
/and Bibs .— Michael Kelly, No. 117 Grant, near Smithfield
street, says: "Last July, while running on the river,
on a
cotton boat plying between Natchez and New Orleans,l was
taken with fever and ague. For eight long months I suffered
with this dreadful disease. The greater part of this Waal
was unable to work, and spent at least filly dollars for dif
ferent medicines, but I found no permanent relief. Three
weeks ago, one of my friends insisted upon my trying Boers
have's Holland Bitters, saying that a cure Was guaranteed.
After taking it for one week, I must state I was a sound
man. I have been at work now for two weeks, and have
returnhad no tnrn of the eh and fever whatever."
c
I certify the above statement Is true.
Tweaks !omits, Diamond Howe,
Or at R. Chester's, Gothic Hall.
HEADACHE AND DEBILITY.
Mr. Silas Llscornb, of Birmingham, says: "I have found
In Brerhave's Bitters a remedy for headache and debility.
My wife has also used It with the greatest benefit."
Mr. A. S. Nicholson, of Pittelmrith, also remarks that be
has experienced much relief from Ito use for headache.
BEAD THIS!
A Hollander's Tkrtimany.--Jacob Itinakes, living fn the
Holland settlement of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, says: "After
suffering for some time the misery attending en utters:prose
tration of mind and body, I have been restored, bytudng
Boerhave's Holland Bitters, to perfect health."
The fact of thin remedy being In !inch high repute among
the Hollanders in Wisconsin, Michigan, New York—in fact,
In every Holland settlement in the United States—argues
much in its favor.
STRENGTH AND HEALTH RESTORED.
Mr. John Davidson, living ten miles above Pittsburgh, on
the Pennsylvania Canal, nays: "When I commenced taking
Boorhave's Holland Bitters, I could hardly walk—now; I
enjoy excellent health."
WEAKNESS OF TILE STOMACH AND INDIGESTION. .
Another Great Cure Effected by Beerhave's Holland Batas.
—The wife of Peter De Witte, living in Holland Town, She.
borate county, Wisconsin, suffered much from weakness of
the stomach and indigestion. She had been under a physi
cian's rare for some time, but the disease seemed to baffle
even his skill. She purchased some Holland Bitters at our
office, v:-hick ban given tone to her stomach, her appetite and
strength are returning, and we firmly believe that this is
another great cure effected by your medicine
We have still to record many wonderful cures effected by
this remedy, but must waft another opportunity. One thing
you can rely upon, what we have published are from person,
much respected In our community, and are literally true.
J. Gomm,
Editor Sheboygan Nimawbode, Sheboygan, Wis.
RHEUMATISM.
A Case of Two Months' Standing Cured by Boerhave's Hol
land Bitters.—George Henderson, of Pittsburgh, says: "After
suffering for three months with rhernmatiam—a part of the
time so severely as to confine me to my bed—l have been
entirely cured by using Boerhaveb Holland Bitters. I have
had one attack since, but found almost Instantaneous relief
fu the same medicine. It is, In my opinion, a sure remedy
for rheumatism."
NKRVOUS AND RHEUMATIC AFFECTIONS.
This changeable weather is likely to produce a great deal
of sickness. To persons troubled with nervous or rheumatic
affections, we would recommend Beerhave's Holland Bitters.
On referring to our columns you will find certificates from
some of our first German and English eitlzene.—Firmsyt
salvia Rants Zeduny.
THE WORST FORM OF PILES CAN BE CURED.
We ore at liberty to refer to several well known gentle
men. who have r.s4 thoroughly tested, and now recommend
Boorhave's pollard Bitten as a remedy for piles. We are
not et liberty to pal Bob their names, but will take pleasure
in referring any Terse a to them who denies this statement.
For this affection, one-half of the prescribed dose should
be token--any half-teaspconful—morning, noon and Wea r)
me hour before meals. _ _
CAUTION!
The great popularity of this delightful Aroma has induced
many imitations, which the public should guard against pun.
chasing. Be not persuadcal to buy anything elm until you
have given Boerhavo's Holland Bitters a fair triaL One bot
tle will convince you how infinitely superior it is to all these
imitations.

DR. MORSE'S
INVIGORATING CORDIAL,
A PHENOMENON IN MEDICINE.
Health Restored and Life Lengthened
MORSE'S INVIGORATE VG
IT WILL replace weakness with strength
incapacity with efficiency, irregularity with uniform and
natural activity, and this not only without hazard of reac
tion. but with a happy effect on the general organization.
2113 - Bear in mind that all maladies, wherever they begin,
finish with the nervous system, and that the paralization of
the nerve of motion and sensation is physical death. Bear
in mind, also, that for every kind of nervous disease, the
Elixir Cordial is the only reliable preparation known.
CURE OF NERVOUS DISEASES.
No language can convey an adequate Idea of the immedi
ate and almost miraculous change which it occasions In the
diseased, debilitated and shattered nervous system, whether
broken down by excess, weak by nature, or Impaired by
sickness—the unstrung and relaxed organization Is at once
braced, revivified and built up. The mental and physical
symptoms of nervous diocese vanish together under Its infim
core. Nor Is the effect temporary; for the Cordial- properties
of the medicine mach the constitution itself, and restore it
to Its normal condition.
Confusion, giddinofet, rush of blood to the heat!, melancholy,
debility, hysteria, wretchedness, thoughts of self- leetruction
—fear of insanity, dyspereda, gerieral prostration, irritabili
ty, nervousness, inability - to sleep, diner's° Incident to moles,
decay of the propagating fonctions, hysteria, monomania,
vague terrors, palpitation of the heart, impotency, constipa,
don, etc, from whatever causes arising is, if there be any
reliance to be placed on human testimony, absolutely infal
lible
A GREAT MEDICINE FOR FEMALES.
The unparallcied effects of this great restorative in all
complaints incident to females mark a new era in the annals
of medicine. Thousands of stLinlants have been invented—
thousands of invigorrints concocted—all purporting to be
specified in the various diseases and derangements to which
the delicate formation of woman render her liable.
EVERY WOMAN OP SENSE,
Who suffers from weakness, derangement, nervousness, tre
mors, pains in the hark, or any other disorder, whether tia
collar to her sex, or common to both sexes-4160121d give the
Invigorating Cordial a trial.
MARRIED PERSONS,
Or others, will find this Cordial, after they have used a bot
tle or two, a thorough regenerator of the system. In all
directions are to he found the happy parents of healthy off
spring, who would not have been so but for this extraordi
nary preparation. And it is equally potent for the many
diseases for which it is recommended. Thousands of young
men have been restored by using it, and not in a single In
stance has it failed to benefit them.
PERSONS OF PALE COMPLEXION,
Or conerimptiro habits, aro restored by the use dr a bottle or
two to bloom and rigor, changing the skin from a pole, yel
low, sickly color, to a how:alb' florid complexion.
TO THE bIISGULDED.
These are some of the sad and melancholy effects prodnced
by early habits of youth, vie: weakness of the tack and
limbs, pains in the head, dimness of sight, Ices of muscula
power, palpitation of the heart, dyspepsia, nervotui lrriur
bility, derangement of the digestive functions, general de
bility, symptoms of consumptions, etc.
Mentally, the fearful effects on the mind are much to be
dreaded. Loss of memory, confusion of ideas, depression of
spirits, evil forebodings, aversion to society, selkliertrust,
love of solitude, timidity, etc., are some of the evils produced .
All thus afflicted,
BEZVORE CONTEMPLATING MARRIAGE:
Should reflect that a sound mind and body are the most no
mastery requisites to promote connubial happiness; Indeed,
without these, the Journey through life becomes a weary
pilgrimage—the prospect hourly darkens the iiewftike mind
bee .s shadowed with despair, and filled with the melan
choly reflection that the happineea of another becomes
blighted with your own.
CAUTION!
Dr. Morse's Invigorating Cordial has been counterfeited by
some unprincipled persons.
In return, all the genuine Conlin] will have the proprietor's
fee-sniffle panted over the cork of each bottle, and the follow
ing words blown in the glass:
