Language thdo to describe the salutary effects it pro duced, and tlie great benMit I derived from its use. The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, wen recol lect that on the Sill of August last, I received seri ous IlOry Bute the C3pluelell of a cannon. A vor non of in: contents entered toy right aide and breast; and in all probability., some fragments or splinters Of tine ram-rod passed through the "plum," and pierced the Tunes. After the lapse of about six weeks, I was attacked with a distressing rough and a ciotent pain in soy right Side. From thus evening there frequently passed a quantity tir air, supposed toissue from the lungs. During all this //We my sufferings were almost intolerable. My physicians, meanwhile paid the strictest atten tion to me, and did all in their power for my recov ery. But with all their skill they could not reach the sent of distress, after the Lungs had become affea ed. 1 was visited during this time by at least twenly Physicians. It was now reduce] to a certainty, that infrimed him of lie lungs was rapally taking place; and that this would terminate my life in a very short time, was in the highest degree prubabie. At this critical stage, a messenger was despatchOd to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that pla c e was consulted. %Viten he was made acquaint ed with my situation, he remarked that nothing could be done by medical aid, if the constitution itself was not sufficient to throw off the disease. My friends now despaired of my recovery, and Ind no earthly ground of hope to survive many days, Fortunately at this juncture, 1 saw one of Dr. Wis.- tar's P.unphlets, entitled "Family Medical Guide," or "Treatise on Consumption of the Lungs."
