NATIONAL 01. - 111E0tis OF TLMPERANCE The gathering, yesterday, of the representatives of the Temperance Reformation: from the differ ent States of the Union, was the greatest e‘er known in this city, or probably in the country.— The streets were crowded during the day by the immense concourse of spectators oho had turned out to w itness the procession and the scenes of the day. The procession itself was one of the largest that cler banned in our streets, and it has been es timated that it must have contained twenty thous and per:Sons. The day was ushered in by the ringing of the church bells in this and the neighboring cities— . At sunrise, national flags fluttered in the breeze. from the City Hall, the Battery, the State Arsenal, the public buildings, hotels, theatres, places of amusements. and several other buildings, and the fountains throughout the day poured forth the ful lest streams of the, pure and sparkling Croton At noon a national salute was tired from the Ban wry. Colonel Thomas B. Lawrence of Pennsyl vania. was the Marshal-in-Chief of the day. We learn that nearly every State in the Union was represented on the occasion. The Grand line took up its march from the cor ner of Hudson and Chamber street, at one o clock, and the procession, four abreast moved up Hud son to Fourteenth street, through Fourteenth street, around Union Park to Broadway, down Broadway to Bond street, thence to the Bowery. down the Bowery to Grand street, up Grand to East Broad way, though East Broadway to Chatham street, through Chatham street to the Park. The procesiou made a grand appearance with its gorgeous banners, its members in their splendid re galia, and accompanied by several bands, which discoursed most eloquent and spirit-slitting music. The States were represented in the procession in the following order: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, District of Columbia, Virginia, Ohio, Delaware, Indiarta. Tennessee, North Carolina. Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Illinois, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Louisiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin Territory, The. procession reached the stand at about halt past 4 o'clock, and formed in front of the City hull, around a large staging, on which were seated the officers of the meeting. guests, orators, &e.— M. W. P. Daniel A. Sands presided, assisted by D. W. 'Morris, M. W. A. The following was sung by the members of the Order, led by P. W. I' ,s. Macdonough, Bulkley, and Meeks: Thrice welcome brother, here we meet, In Friendship's ClO6O Communion join'd; Ye Sons of Temp'rance, loud repeat Your triumph with one heart and mind. No angry persons here should mar Our peace, or move our social band— For Friendship is our beacon star— Our motto—" Union, Hand-in-Hand." After a prayer, a statement of the order was read by J. U. Oliver, M. W. Scribe—singing again by members of the Order, and then an address by Phillip S. White of Pa. M. W. I'. One or two more addresses were delivered, when the exercises TIC closed by singing. This has been a proud day for the .friends of temperance, and with all our heart we say, God speed them in their work which we regard as one of the noblest and most momentous movements of the Nineteenth Century. STICH:3IEI,S NEW ORLEANS AND SOUTHERN GYMNASIUM. First performance on Friday evening June 19, in front of the American Rote!. STICKNEY begs leave most respectfully to ill announce to his old friends and the public of Pittsburgh and vicinity, that he has with the great est pains collected a company, male and female, the complement in every department of which is so com pletely filled, that hitherto no additions or alterations have been suggested by the discerning public of New Orleans, the skill of some of whom in their respective vocations, have gained them a celebrity that places them at the "acme" among Gymnastic and the Pro fession of Equitation. In offering a synopsis of the performances, which the. Manager takes pride in offering this season he is I constrained to express his gratefulness for the liberal patronage bestowed upon his exertions during the past season, and the many kindnesses everywhere evinced towa.ds himself and the various members of his company. In the Stud of variegated and beautiful horses, the luxurious conveniences of the Tent, the Music, the Profuse Outlay, Expensive Appliances, Tasteful Para phernelia, Appropriate Costumes, Brilliant Trappings Gorgeous Pageantry, and above all, assidious atten tion to the comforts of the spectators, the Manager courts criticisms. In fine, he thinks that in affording the greatest pos sible innocent amusement, with the greatest amount of interesting instruction, he has reduced the feats and sports of the circle to a science. The Manager, ever anxious to eater for the public, has at a great expense engaged the celebrated Ethio peen Serenaders from Boston, with little Ole Bull, the greatest Violinist of the age (11 years) in the world; and Sweeny, the best Banjo player; and Mr. Sanford in the Virginia Jigs. As a Spring Purifier, these pills have no equal;and for purify ing the blood, and purging and cleansing the stom ach-and bowels, they :are the safest, best, and most efficacious in existence. If pills are necessa ry at all, D.
