IT'hilmorr.—Dear Slri As youare th - e reg. , ular authorized agent in Dayton, for the s'ale of "Dr. Wistar•s Balsam of iVild Cherry," I take this ineth od of making o. statement -of facts‘to you (which - I hope may be published to the world) in reference to an almost miraculous cure, wrought in my case by tneans ef the above Invaluabk Balsam. Language fails to describe the salutary effects it pro duced, and the great benefit I derived from its use. The citizens of Dayton and vicinity, well recol lect that on the Sth of August last,_] received seri ous injury from the explosion of a cannon. A por tion of its contents entered my tight side and breast; and in all probability, some fragments or splinters of the ram-rod passed through a the "plura," and pierced the Lungs. After the lapse of about six weeks, l was attacked with a distressing cough and a violent, pain in my right side.. Sonic ten days after this When in apar axon; of coughing, suddenly and tmettt broke, and , a large quantity of very o ff ensive matter, mixed 1 with blood, was discharged; most of which found passage through the opening of the wound. From this opening there frequently passed. a quantity of air, supposed to issue front the lungs. During all this time my sufferings were almost intolerable. My physicians, meanwhile paid the strictest atten-.I tion to me, and did all in their power for my recov ery. 'But with all their skill they could not reach the seat of distress, after the Lungs had become affect ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty Physicians. It was now reduced to a certainty, that in/lama:ion of the lungs was rapidly taking place; and that this would terminate my life in a very short time, was in the highest degree probabie. At this critical stage, a messenger was despatched to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician of that place was consulted. When he was made acquiint ed with toy situation,he remarked that nothing could be done by medical aid, if the constitution itself was not slifTiMent to throw off the disease. ' My friends now despaired of my recovery, and I had no earthly ground of hope tenon ive many days. Fortunately at thin juncture, I saw one of Dr. Win tar's Pamphlets, entitled oFamily Medical Guide," or ”Treatise on Consumption of the Lulu's." As I had often beard of dying men "catching at straws," I felt this doing so myself. By the consent of my Physicians, I sent to you for a bottle of the medicine described viz: "Wistor's Balsam of Wild Cherry," which relieved me almost immediately. Atter 1 had used some live or six bottles! sofa:* recovered as to be up and about. My cough ceased, and my lungs were restored to a healthy state—all from the heal ing and balmy influence and powerful medicinal vir tues if Wistar , s Batom. Were it not from the external injury I received in my shoulder and arm by the explosion, I feel confi dent that I might have been working at my trade (which is blacksmithing,) but this has prevented, By exposure, I have since taken several severe colds; and my only remedy has been "the ba/sam," And I now most cordially recommend the genuine 'nears Balsam to all who arc afflicted with Colds, Coughs, or Lung Complaints. I consider it an inval uable medicine—a real blessing to the world, Any person desirin g further information, may call on me any tire, yours truly. - CHRISTOPHER R. SMYTH.
