Many of .1 the "nosfrums"of the present day are put out by persons who have no knowledge ofthe science ofmedi cine in theory or pmetice, and in of der to hide their ig norance cry out loudly against the "ignorant Pretend ers," and bribe others to boast for them, which oft times has gulled the unsuspecting, and for want of a proper knowledge of the diseases they pretend to cure, no doubt think they cure when they do not, therefore they are to be pitied, but not hall's(' much as those who take their ''entserable compounds," but they not only lose their money, but miss the advantage of that ne cessary advice which the real practical ph y sician, is always able to give. We look to the tailor foran im provement in the mode °Weis; to the medical man for an improvement in the science of medicine—and this accounts for the great superiority of Dr Seayne ' s Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry over all other medicines ever offered to the public for the cure of all diseases of the Lung. and Breast, Cough*, Colds, I Consumption, Asthma, !pitting Blood, Liver Com plaint, Pain in the Side and Breast. Broken Constitu tins, &c. Remember always to inquire for the name , of Dr Smartt. as all preparations which have the name of Wild Cherry attached were stolen from the ;great original preparation. Rare Chance for geed Investments THE subecriber has laid nut, and now offers for sale at reasonable prices and on accommodating terms, One hundred and ten betiding Lois, on that handsome level ground between Braddock Street and the Monongahela river. They are about one-third of a mile from the city line, and are otunied in that rill of the first city district vi bleb will probably soon be annexed to the city as the Seventh Wald. No pro perty in the suburbs pus uperior advantanges, nor has any heretofore been laid out with so liberal an al lowance of wide streets; Braddock in from one hun dred and twenty to about one hundred and ninety feet wide, and Beelen. Commerce, Brady, Columbus and Water streets all wide avenues, Most of the lots have two fronts, and as they are of various sizes, and will be sold, one lot, with the privilege of four or five; early apolicanu can be accommodated to suit their own views of improvement. Persons who desire to build or to make secure investments in property that is sure to advance in value, and particularly those who intend to erect manufactories, would do well to view these Lou, and examine the theft, before purchasing else where. The survey for the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road and the tail road survey by the Stoic of Penn• sylvania were both made alongside of this property, and it is generally considered that Braddock street, or the ground immediately alongside of it, affords the only eligible route for a Rail Road from Pittsburgh to the East. Coal can be delivered on this prupetty at it much less cost than on the Allegheny river, and there is always deep water at thin part or the river. E. D. GAZZAII, pugls•tf. FIFTH STREETS, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, AT FIVE DOLLARS PER ANNUM, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE Domocratic Review GREATLY REDUCED PRICE — PRoNt $5 TO $3 PER AN NEM—SINGLE corr,2s CF:NTS. Progpectus of the next (or 17th) Foinures THE PRICE of the DEMOCRATIC Review has heretofore been too high—not fur its size, cost, and chat actor, but for the means of tens of thousands of readers who would be glad to receive it, and among whom is is highly' desirable that it should circulate. Ei.r the purpose, therefore, of largely widening the range of its usefulness, and of multiplying the num bers of those to whom it may be accessible, it has been determined, simultaneously with the great reduction in the expenses of the postage, to reduce its subscrip tion price also, from Five to only Three dollars; and when several unite in subscription, toes low no $2 50, or ever. $2 30 per annum. This very large reduction in the receipts (accompa nied with buts comparatively small diminution of its expenses) involves, of course, en entire sacrifice of profit upon it, unless compensated by a vast multipli cation of its subscribers. There will be a' the outset only a small reduction in its number of pages; soon to be restored to its old number, without increase of price, when the anticipated success of the experiment shell justify it. The PORTR•ITS or DISTINGUISHED DEMOCRATS will be continued—engraved in better and more costly style than heretofore. The l'OtT AGE will hereafter, for say distance, be only five and • itralf cents; it has heretofore been, fur over 100 miles, eiptifen cents. We look for •n extension of circulation to be reckon ed by tens of thousands. as the result err compensa tion of this great reduction of price. Every friend of the work, and of the Democratic principles and cause, i s arotideutly uppeetlei to, to curet himself with an active interest to procure it subscribers; both to extend its usefulness, end to carry it successfully through the s,iris of this great reduction of its receipts.
