Our previous accounts by this yes. sal were very limited, based as they were upon verbal statements,and a short extract from one of the few letters which reached the city in company with the despatches for the State Department.. It was not until a late hour yesterday that we received the letter, an extract from which follows, containing the official I communications, a translation of which is subjoined. The letter is from a friend and correspondent in Vern Cruz, and enclosed the co nmunicationo, which are from the Minister of IVar and Marine of Mexico, It appears by these, that the previous intimations of the intention of Mexico to declare war against this country have assumed a positivennd determinate shape. TENNESSEE ELECTION The Nashville Union says:—According to our esti mate of the gain and loses, Brown has gained 2,- 148 and lost 434—leaving a net gain of 1,600. In the Legislature the democrats hove gained three members and lost one. From these signs we infin- that Brown is elected, end probably that the Legislature is demo cratic.
