Sellers lrP'We had another fire rain on Wednesday night, *hid' continued, with short intermissiocar, until noon yesterday. There is now a very good stage of water, and the rivers are still rising, so that we have good reason to hope that navigation will be resumed by boats of every class. Although the rain that we have bad for some weeps past, did not come in time to du much good to the wheat and other fall grain, yet it will be of great benefit to the spring crop, and ensure the farmer a pretty fair return for his labor. The grass, we understand, has suffered severely, and thefarmers predict that next spring 'hay will be hay.' We should not be surprised if it would. Great Fire in Fayetteville, N. C. HALF THE TOWN IN RUINS! We learn, says the Richmond Compiler, by a passen ger in tbesouthern cars yesterday morning, that a fire occurred in Fayetteville, N. C., on Thursday night, by which half the place, principally the business portion, was destroyed. He could not give particulars further than the calamity was attributed to an incendiaty. The fire broke out in D. & W. 11I'Lawnins ware house. Somefamilies are beggar this morning. M. Brown (or H Erambert) burnt out. Both book stores and both printing offices burnt; and all our doctor's shops but one ; end the Lafayette Hotel. We sees list of between 30 and 40 business houses, it was certainly a most terrible visitation. Terrivnx.—This evening that gentlemanly and tal ented actor, Mr. FLETCHER, takes his benefit. The selections which he has made are uncommonly attrac tive. Mr. Fs. amiabledeportment in society, and his success tea a comedian, deserve encouragement, and will doubtless fill the house. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. one of Shakspeare's masterpieces, will be performed, first time this season, and the patrons of the drama should avail themselves of this opportu nity to son it. Aaron Bwrr and Jacob Astor.—Mntly 'PST'S since, when Aaron Burr was about to leave for England, he sold his mansion end abort twenty acres of the pas ture and woodland, to Mr. Astor, for $50.000. subject to redemption nn his return, by paying the interefy - . In the meanwhile, it had been graded. streets, laid out, many improvements made, and con sequently the property was greatly enhanced in value. Burr told Mr Astor he proposed to take the property and refund the money with interest, to which Mr As tor of course, objected. The writings were examined, and the stipulation struck Mr. A. with surprise. The matterwaseempromisefl by paving Burr an additional $50,000. The same property now is wotth many niftiest§ of dollars.
