etig i Lfliorning Post. PITTSBURGH, PA. MONDAY MORNING, APRIL 21, 1845 PITTSBURGH BOARD OF TRADE. COMMITTI6 FOR APRIL. Joshua Hanna, W. Thaw. .T. W. Lightner TIM FAST DAT paused crWpretty much as all aim. liar observances have done in our remembrance.— The churches were tolerably well filled, and the services in each were appropriate and impressive. Bat many did not observe the day at all, and ma ny more would have been better at work than to keep it as they did. We saw several drunken men —we sew two horse races just out of the city lines— we.aaw a gang of boys with cocks that they were taking to some place to fight. —The minds of the peo ple were not prepated for the solemn observance of inch a day—and it would be better hereafter for the people themselves to take the lead in the matter of fixing fast days, or to indicate a disposition to keep them when they shall be fixed. If, from any cause, they are not devotionally in clined. they cannot become so at the call the coun cils, and it is worse than useless to expect any good maim from such observances. It was entirely right abd proper to beta a fast day—but we agree with a vast majority of our fellow-citizens that it was called Mach too soon. Ammurr.—YPaterday afternoon, a lad named TIZIRNAiI, about to years of age, had his skull (litc hired by s horse kicking him ; he is not expected to recover.
