Wylie, Jr Ig'Bee out outside form fur "Picked News." F. CABAL TKANIIPoRTATIott.—We invite attention bit ibeadvertisement of the Reliance Portable Boat Lime. This is one of the oldest and best established of our transportation lines; rind is well and favorably known to the mercantile public. We publish this morning, a card, signed by the passengers of Packet boats Kentucky and John Adapts, its which a well merited compliment is paid to the Captains of the boats, and to David Leech,Esq, for their extraordinary of bru to carry the passengers of the above boats through from Johnstown to this city. The passage was rendered extremely difficult, on ac count of the immense gorges of ice that had accumt lated in the slack -waters. To persons of less energy than Commodore Leech. the difficulties would have appeared insurmountable, but he concluded that his passengers desired to "push abead," and he determin ed that they should "go ahead" despite all obstacles, and accordingly they did. 'The “Broadway Journal" holds, with much sense, that man requires excitement and will find IL-- Upon this principle it concludes that Mr Green's no toriuus crusade upon gamblers springs more from his morbid taste for pleasure of the kind, than from a gen uine appreciation of the evils be aims to expose. The Journal adds: "It is for this reason that the greatest sinners al ways make the greatest nil ints—as St and others."
