Iljaktat itiorning float PITTSBURGH, PA. WEDNESDAY MORNING, MARCH 19, 1845 PITTSBURGH BOARD OF TRADE. COMMITTER TOR MARCH. N. B. Craig, J. F. Kelly, A. Wylie, Jr taPP'Another, and the last chapter in the history of Simon Suggs, the Shifty Men, will be foend on eta outside form. MaLsocuot.v. A young man named Rogan,. ABEI4 carpenter of the etenmbont Herald, was at work alone, repairing the starboard wheel of the boat, when he fell into the river and was drowned. No person happened to be near when he fell in, and be was in the water some time befote he was dis °evened. Efforts to save him proved fruitless. He was a worthy young man, much esteemed by his ac quaintances. We learn that the body has been found. Solcipa.—A man named GEORGE GLlrra, who was confined for vagrancy, and who lies at times ap peared insane, committed suicide yesterday afternoon, in jail, by severing the Brachial artery of his arm with a razor. He bled to death in about 30 minutes. Ho was no doubt insane when he committed the fear fill act. He obtain'd the ra:nr from a fellow-prisoner, through a crevice by the steam pipe. A coroner's in quest was held, and a verdict rendered in a , cordance with the above facts. CELEBRATIONS Of Sr. PATRICK'S DkT.—Accoe. ding to arrangement, e large company met at Mr. H. ewster's Emmet Hotel, to partake of an entertain ler in honor of Ireland's patron saint. All politi alibi sectarian allusions were interdicted, and no gen timentwas offered that could offend the peculiar tell- Ekons or political notions of:any one. Joust Fate mks, Esq., presided, assisted by the proper number of Vice Presidents. The usual formality of reading regu lar toasts was dispensed with, and the company were ieft fete to raja' themselves in such a manner as their &alines prOineled, or the occasion might suggest. Accordingly, the tmusts offered were unstudied, the flashes of wit and humor were unpremeditated—and as everybody knows, much premeditation about an af fair adds sort, (except in preparing the 'iiands ) mars enjoyment. There were no studied impromptus, made by watchful gentlemen eager to ereato or to seise an opportunity to pull out the vent-pegs of their art—no ownexpecied" calls responded to in a set speech, or with a cut-and-dry sentiment drawn from its snug corner of the vest pocket. All was ease and pleasant hilarity. Several sentiments appropriate to the occasion were offered, but none met with a more hearty or well-deserved reception than that in which the host and his bountiful cheer were remembered.— The company separated at an early hour, well pleased with the way in which the evening was passed. The celeb:ation at the WASHINGTON Hann., was ets is customary at that house, attended by a large com pany, who appreciated as they ought the liberal and sumptuous entertainment set before them. There were many toasts offered, and many songs sung, and many short speeches made. We forbear further re mark, as we suppose the proceedings will appear in an official form. tip We would refer our renders to the sale of a Co/tags Norse, to take place this morning at 11 o'clock, A.
