M"The following Temperance Song from the pen of our friend NEvvrt.t.lis one of the very best we have seen TEMPERANCE SONG Written for the New Castle IVashinArlomans BY ALEXANDER NEWELL. AlR:—"Bruce's Address." Sons of Freedom! see with pride, &The care of Tern p'rance onward glide, Till every hill and valley wide, Reverberates again! Till every land beneath the sun, From Ganges - to majestic Don, Shall is one mighty current run, And shout aloud Amen! Then let your banner,' proudly fiy, Your cause is boly- - truly, high— It claims a kindred to the sky— Han Slavery's fetters riven; He raised 'Green Erin's" fallen child, And even in the TVestern wild, ties beam'd on than in aspect mild. And fitted him for Heaven! Then onward, on, from shore to shore, From India to the Labrador, And in one mighty mingling roar, The Temp'tance shout prolong'. Till from the Ocean to the Lakes, Ono deaf'iling answering echo breaks, Till man, degraded man, awakes, And Angels join the song! Our case is smiled on from the skies, And oh, see woman's beaming eyes, And hear the plaudit's proudly rise, From Freedom's verdant sod See, from Ocean, Faith, and Air. 'One spotless banner streaming there, Waving o'er the free and fair, Temperance and Gud "Nine's the day and now's the hour," To strip the tyrant of his power, And on our country's blessings shower, And pour them on our youth! Then let us pledge our heart and hand, Oar dearest rights—our native land, That we will by our banner stand— Temperance and truth! Coughs, Colds. IMPORTANT TESTIMONY. DR Swe Y NE, Dear Sir:—ln last October, while en" gaged with Mr Joseph Smith, in a saw-mill near lVaynesburgh, I was attacked with a cough from be ing exposed at night. which gradually increased, at tended with spitting of blood, and a severe pain in the breast. loss of appetite, fever, &c. &c. which was scarcely supportable. I had a family who were whol ly dependent on my exertions for support, yet I was obliged to leave my business and return home. I was then attended by several physicians, but still grew worse, until my medical attendants gave me up as an incurable. Subsequently, my wife observing, in one of the public prints, an advertisement of DR. SW AYNE'S COMPOUND SYRUP OF WILD CHERRY, pro. cured me one bottle from Francis M'Clure, your agent itt Lewistown, which relieved me; I continued until I had taken five bottles; I am now able to return to my work again. I write this to offer you my sincere teanks, and you are at liberty to make th's known, so that if any human being is suffering as I have bean, they may have recourse to your invaluable medicine. New Lebanon, State of Nem York. WORTHY Fatasro:—Having made a thorough trial of the Medicated Vavor Bath for four months past, in our societies in New Lebanon and Watervliet, we think it but justice to state, that we consider it a valuable improvement in the healing art, Its power in reduc ing both chronic and acute infiamation, also in remov ing spasms, is certainly very great. In cases of ob structed perspiration, it is unquestionably the safest and best remedy that we have ever seen, Several persons in our society, who were scarcely free from a catarrhal affection during roost of the winter months for several years past, have found permanent relief by using the Bath a few times; and the predisposition to take cold, as it is commonly termed, seems to be whol ly removed. Obstructed perspiration, is certainly in our changeable climate, one of the most fruitful sour ces of disease, and any remedy that is capable of re moving the predisposition to it, must bu considered a great blessing to mankind; and as such we do not hesi tate to recommend the Medicated Vapor Bath. Don...von—Sir —I have had in use for five months, one of Hathaway's Hot Air Cooking Stoves, and I have no hesitation in saying it is the best stove now in use. The various kinds of cooking it is calcu lated to do at the same time, and the small quantity of fuel required, makes it an object worthy the atten tion of all who desire a good stove. laP I embrace this opportunity to recommend the Hot Air Cooking Stoves; I have used the one you pot up for me constantly all summer, and I must say it is a grand article. I believe it is superior to any other stove now in use in this city. The oven bakes well, and is large enough to bake four large loav - es of bread at one time; it also cooks very speedily, and it requires very little coal, Ithink them worthy the attention of all who wish a good stove; to such I would say, try them and prove what they are. oct ly IvIATHEW PATRICK.
