The - Louisville Journal contains what appear to be a full summary of the testimony taken upon the trial of Miss Della Webster, fur negrootealing, at Lexing• ton, NT,. Difficult alit is to come to a harsh conclu sion in &case in which a delicate and educated female (vixen:led, end as much as we had hoped to see this ,)cumg woman exonerate herself from the wore 'part of the charges against her, it is impossible to 'peruse the evidence in the case without coming to the conclusion that the jury could have found no oth • eor verdict than that of guilty. lithe witnesses swore • may; its therein nothicg before as to raise a suspicion that they did not, Miss Webster was not only undoubt ' led!) , guilty of the crime charged in the indictment, but of the grosest improprieties of a different character. It appears by the testimony that she joined Fairbanks in stealing and carrying off the slaves, by previous con .cert—that she went off with him in a carriage hired for the purpose--that she spent a long time with him night awl day, and a portion of it in so equivocal a po sided as to lead the landlord of a house where they stopped to suppose that they were a couple of runaway lovers, which they neither denied nor admitted upon taring rallied to that effect. No evidence of any con sequence was adduced by the prisoner's emted, and the jury, after hearing able arguments on both sides, - retired at night, foal next morning brought in their ver dict of guilty, Miss W. had moved to be separated from Fairbanks on the trial, and the motion was grant eby the court; so that Fairbanks will be tried at the nextteran hiacounsel having moved for a continuance on the ground that he had material witnesses absent in - this city. nevi can be very little doubt as to the re anti of awl trial.—N. IMPORTANT TESTIMONY. Da Sivrtasit, Dear Sir:—ln last October, while en caged with Mr Joseph Smith, in a saw-mill near Waynesburgh, I was attacked with a cough from be ing exposed at night, which gradually increased, at tended with spitting of blood, and a severe pain in the breast, loss of appetite, fever, &c. &c. which was scarcely supportable. I had a family who were whol ly dependent on my exertions for support, yet I was obliged to leave my business and.return home. I was then attended by several physicians, but still grew 'worse, until my medical attendants gave me up as an incurable. Subsequently, my wife observing, in one of the public prints, an advertisement of DR. SWAYNE'S 'COMPOUND SYRUP OF WILL) CHERRY, pro cured me one bottle from Elands M'Clure, your agent in Lewistown, which relieved me; I continued until I had taken fire bottles; I am now able to return to my work again. I write tbis to offer you my sincere teanks, and you are at liberty to make th's known, so 'that if any human being is suffering as I have been, • they may have recourse to your invaluable medicine. WORTHY FRlLND:—Having made a thorough trial of the Medicated Vavor Bath for four months past, in our societies in New Lebanon and Watervliet, we think it but justice to state, that we consider it a valuabie improvement in the healing art. Its power in reduc ing both chronic and acute inflamation, also in remov ing spasms, is certainly very great. In cases of ob structed perspiration, it is unquestionably the safest and best remedy that we have ever seen. Several, persons in our society, who were scarcely free from a catarrhal affection during most of the winter months for several years past, have found permanent relief by using the Bath a few times; and the predisposition to take cold, as it is commonly termed, seems to be whol ly removed. Obstructed perspiration, is certainly in our changeable climate, one of the most fruitful sour ces of disease, and any remedy that is capable of re moving the predisposition to it, must be considered a great blessing to mankindrand as such we do not hesi tate to recommend the Medicated Vapor Bath.
