It is not generally known, but nevenkeless true, that Drugs and spices sold in the East, are lower in price titan whole, of course the profit and cost of grinding must be made up by adulteration; dye woods have at least 15 per cent, and in some cases 25 per cent. of water added to them. Now water, duet, cornmeal and flaxseed meal are plenty here, and we can eat them in their purity, if so it pleases us, without pay ing a pepper price with freight and premium added.
