The proprietor of this work claims that it is ahead of all contemporaries with Fashion plates. The present is a good number. COOK has also received the 3d No of the Wandering ONVENTION OY Fsaxses.— We invite attention to the article signed "A farmer of Fayette township," suggesting that thole bee Convention of Farmers called to take into consideration their condition and prospects, end to cielibemte on the policy, which. as a class, they ought to pursue. In accordance with the request of ear correspondent, we invite our exchanges to copy his article. 'The Whig Committee of Challengers, have pub lished the correspondence between the two Committees. We are perfectly satisfied that the people shall judge from that correspondence, which party shunned dis cussion, and which party sought "unfair advantages." MI /ea Ix Tuov.—On IVedtieliy evening of last week, tho windows of a church (Rev Mr. Shepherd's) were-broken in with stones, and an anti-slavery meet ing broken up by a mob. The Mayor of the city ad vised the Abolitionists "to go home and go to bed, and go to sleep.". Between two and three hundred citizens of all parties, petitioned the. Mayor to send officers to protect the people and arrest the timers, but he did notmake his appearance till he was sent for a4d told that the mob had broken in the windows; then he appeared, and gave the advice above stated. FIRE IN Msucnasraa.—The new and beautiful Town House, in Manchester, N. IL, built at an ex pense of $24,000,. was discovered to be on tire on Mon pay, and was soon reduced to heap of ruins. The cel lars were occupied by provision dealers, who saved most of their property. In the baserneat was the post office, and four stores. The contents of the post:office were saved, and a portion of all the stocks of gotid,.— The second story was occupied as a town hall, and lawyers' offices. Part only of the town records saved. In the third story were the armories of the Stark Guards and Fusileer. The plaids lost all their arms; the Fu • leers 30, guns; standard, uniforms and camp utensils. The job printing office of Mr. J. Emerson, also, in the third story, was destroyed, his books were all that he saved. The 1101130 was insured for I 0;000. It is con jectured that the fire was set by an incendiaary. One of these agents will inspect the Hemp that may be sent to Louisville, Kentucky, and the other that which may be sent to St Louis , in Missoui. These a gents will be furnished with samples of Riga Rein Hemp, and with the means of testing Hemp, and will be ready to give till information in their power, to en able contractors t o have their herqp properly prepttred, and to ascertain the strength and character of it, be fore the expense of sending it to the navyjard is incur red. It must be distinctly understood, however, that the inspection and opinion of these agents is merely to diminish the risk to contractors, by furnishing useful info irmaton. The only inspection by which the hemp can finaly be received and paid for,will be that at the na. vy yard where it is to be delivered. The whole quantity of the hemp embraced in soy contract most be delivered at the navy yard Charles town, Mass, on or before the first day of August, 1845.
