Gas Fmtao.—We would call the attention of cit izens to the advertisement of ADAMS & GOLDTHoRT, who have commenced the business of manufacturing Rad Suing up Gas fixtures. Messrs A. &G. ate skil ful workmen in their line, and well deserve public sup port. :17We are.informed that an arrangement is being made to iocorporate the members of the Wirt Library Association with the Board of trade. We understand w these gentlemen composing the Wirt Library Associa tioo have about thirteen hundred dollars worth of the most ram and valuable books that are to be had, hay- ins imported Many of them expressly with a view to a public Library. And we presume the obj.ct of the arrangement is;that some vigorous steps may now be taken by the Board in connexion with themselves, to establish, on a permanent basis, an extensive and well selected public Library that will be an honor to our city and of incalculable advantage to our young men. , We deem it unnecessary to urge our liberal and enter. prising citisens to co-operate in this enterprise, for eve ry intelligent man must see the importance of such en institution. HA nvssr.—This important part of agricultural in dustry, is progressing prosperously. We have seen several of our couutr, friends, wbo give encouraging reports both of the quality and the quantity of the crops. So far every thing gives promise of n remarka bly fruitful year, while every branch of trade and man ufactures is flourishing to a gratifying extent. rir Ti, workmen are busily engaged in taking up the old water piped in Fifth street, and we will do them the justice to say that they have planned their arrangements with great ingenuity, if their object is to give the the greatest possible into nveoience.-- They have torn up the pavement in Fifth street, from Wood to Stirket, in order to let some ten or a twenty risen have room to dig out the pipes. Of course the public are disobliged by this mode of preete . !ding, while the work is by no means facilitated. Vote for President.—A vote was taken onboard the steamer New Brazil, June 21st, 1344, on her trip frogs St Louis top; which resilted as follows: James K. Polk.
