Prurssurion Guns .—Now when the whole count ry
is mourning for the disaster on board the Princeton, by
which Timmy valuable lives were lost, it may be well
enough to call attention to a fact, which strikingly
exhibits the superiority of Pittsburgh manufactures and
PittsiTurgb workmen. It is this—that no Gun mode
at Otis place leas ever burst! This speaks volumes,
and should be sufficient, of itself, to tectimmend our city
and our workmen to the patronage of government.

FATAL DUEL
We are indebted to Mr Collier, Clerk of the Oil-
Agin, for tho particulars of a fatal duel which took
place near Vicksburgh. on the 29th ult., between 8 and
9 o'clock AM. Mr Ryan. Ohor of the Vicksburg
Sentinel, was shot dead by Mr flammet, of the Whig.
They fought opposite Vicksburg. distance ten paces.—
Ryan fell the fourth round. The second and third round
Ryan shot Htmmet, first in the shoulder. and at the
next fire cut the clothes in the small of the back.—
Hammet's ball, at the fourth round. struck Ryan's
pistol and g binned into his breast causing death. Few
duels of late have partaken orthe ferocity which seems
to have characterized this. it will be remembered
that this is tho second Editor of the Vicksburg Senti
nel who has been killed within a comparatively
short time, and the next one will stand a chance to fall
in the same manner. judging from the spirit preval
entin Mississippi. We did not learn the cause of the
quarrel in this instance, but presume it arose from
*rne dispute on the relative strength or honesty of
the parties respectively represented.—Cin. Com.
