Criminal Court.—F,ank Kelly, en Alder
man of the Third Ward, was tried for misde
meanor in orne,., in liot paying over certain
Money, about fifty doll I', to Mr.:sllchael Orr
dy. It appeared from 1:..) testimony that he la
sal imbecile, occasioned by excessiveldrinking.
The money w_.s collected from his sureties. Mr.
Kelly was found guilty in msnne: and form as
he stood indicted.
Another charge was brought against him by
oar Mr. Donavan, who testified that Frank
Kelly had taken him Into custody and instead
of giving bail for his appearance, Kelly accept
ed one hundred iiollars which the prosecutor
gave him. Proseoutor was thischarged or argot -
tad, hut could never get the money back. On
this charge Kelly was also found guilty.

wealth yr. David ()rain, James Porter, Jose] lit
Beaver, Wm Ji‘own and Tohn Pay, for riot.
These chaps got merry one day, hauled a colored
boy who was driving a horse, took seventy-five
cents from him and committed sundry other
outrages. They were found gnllry.
The r ext case brought up was Commonwealth
vs. Peter MoClorry, for assault and battery.
Be was lined 3220 and costs.
Commonwealth vs. Edward O'Donnel, Chas.
O'Donztel and James Ctilly for riot on the 2.mh
of last April, was on trial in the afternoon.
Grain Elevator.—The men employed in
ezeavating the fon:1.1.01:m for the grain eleva
or at the head of Lilri . ty street, continue toting
up roltes of the olden limo. A tombstone was
dug up yesterday containing the name of All

Of these there were: Congestior of brain and
image, extensive burns, dlseese if 111,er, con
sumption, rubeeto, tAbee mesenterica, c onvul-
Siena, small pox, bronchitis, scarlet fever, one
each; typhoid fever, foliar:lm ion of bratn,still
born, two each; congestion of twain, four.
Of the above there were: Under one year,
three; from one t two, one; fro:u two to five,
seven; from five to ten, one; from fifteen to
twenty, one; from twenty to thirty, two; from
thirty to forty, four; from fifty to sixty, one.
Steubenville Tainnel.--Thsi work is pro
gressing Quite rapidly. A large number of hands
are now employed in excavating, arching and
hauling the rubbish and earth away with carts.
The central portion of the tunnel, under the
hill, is already archell and men are busy at each
end bringing the arching to a state of com
pletion. In a few months we may expeot to
hear the cars of the Steubenville road rattling
across the Monongahela bridge, through this
tunnel, and connecting with the Pennsylvania
Railroad.
Malicious illischlef —A number of boys
congregated about the Wharf, amused them
selves the other evening by throwing stones at
a large number of car-boys full of acid, belong
log to the Penna. Salt Manufactuging Compa
ny. They broke the necks off several and com
mitted damage to the amount of about fifty dol.
lan. Two of the lada`have been committed to
answer, and one is released on bail to appear at
Court. This is the only way that some boys
can be taught Civility.
Drowned.—On Thursday afternoon John
Duncan, a workman in tho roiling mill of James
Ward '30., at Nllea, was drowned while
bathing in the Mahoning river, in the slackw aim
abdut a quarter of a mile above the mill. Dun
can had swam half-war across the river and
was Bawl with cramp. A fellow workman,
named John Baguet', was bathing at the same
time, and when he saw Duncan drowning swam
to him and naught him twice by the hair of his
Mad, but was unable to rescue him.
Killed.—Corporal William Montgomery, a
member of Company L, 102 Regiment was kil l
ed on the 18th instant while engaged in battle,
the ball entering the right shoulder and passing
out at the left arm. Corporal Montgomery was
much thought of by his companions in arms and
his death will be much regretted. John E.

Trtuue and ThomaS Welsh of the Lame company
are Wounded.
A Boy Drowned.-I)oroner McClung held
an inquest on the body of a boy, about 18 years
Of age, who was drowned in the Allegheny
river on Thursday. Ho was riding one of two
horses that were pulling a fiat full atoll bar
rels, and he eitherJumpcd off or was thrown off
the horse, and not being able to swim was
drowned.

tared at Plymouth, North Carolina by the
Rebels Is now held ae a hostage among others in
Petersburg to prevent the Union Soldiers from
shelling the city.
More Horses Kllted.—Two horses were
killed on last Sunday evening, in Washington
county, by lightning, during the prevalence of
the storm teat evening. The horsee belonged
to a man named George Garren, of Robinson
township.

at Paducah, on Sunday the 12th Inst. by a sol
dier. The shooting was dellberateand Malicious.
Deceasecwas formerly a citizen of Pittsburgh,
latterly of Paducah, where ho was engaged In
the leather business.
