TO ALL coiveratais3D.— Among a certain class of self-important pea ple,, there is a peculiar feeling of contempt attach ed to all physicians that advertise and treat. the diseasesnarned in this card, (PRIXA.TE,pist:e g gs,) why this - should be, they nor no one e.se can tell. Are they not aware that all physicians treat dia. eases of every denomination, in fact solicit, just the very diseases that are so obnoxious to these very refined parties. I suppose they would not let one of their family go to a party that has tie. voted yeara for their bench t, because lie adverti ses the fact, and their family physician Bays he is a humbug so he can get the ease. Often he has almost deprived the party of his life. lie comes at last to the physician that advertises—buw else are they to know 7 Are they nut aware that Sir Astley Cooper, Sir Benjamin Brodie, Sir Chat les Ball and 01. Paul Ricord det oted rears in the treatment of these diseases I These - men Sr, belt up as shining lights in the medical world ; I don't assert that all men are worthy that puP.:...11, still there are a great number of them that are. 1 have devoted myself to the study and treatment et PltivaTe Disuses es upwards of 40 years, and without egotism can say I have saved hundreds from years of misery and untimely death. My treatment Is confined to the vegetable altogmher, as I think it is the best and most certain. It is in my power to bring hundreds of certificates if thought it necessary - to certify to my genexal tus seas but my long residence in this city is suit:- dent proof without adding more. Spermatorrhen and all diseases arising from it are cured in a much shorter time than heretofore. It behooves every young man and woman to be careful in !Wing a physician. The different advertisements that are Been In our papers are of no worth, and no benefit will arise from answers than only loss of health and money. Hundreds are cured annu ally by my new remedies. The matchless tributi of honor and erection paid-by the first soldier of his time to the noble dead offeur ' .n ttotial army has thrown the Tribune. into :>I paroxysm of rage. It characterizes this splendid eulogy as a "cattle fish dodge," en attempt to "muddle and niysiify.l - McCLELLAN'smod'est statement ' of his own opinion of the cause ofthe rebellion actually brings the frothy ma , oh to the nose anti nidup, of inn con temporary: In this agony of passion, the Tribune denies thh ”contactness• -of General McCkEta,AN's ate.tenaent,, and asserts that "the f ngiArers of the. , ;Mier lion 'desired and labored'"for that very Republican triumph of 1-860' "which is here 'made the cause of their revolt." It this-theory of,ate Tribune be . cor rect (and we admit that it is,) then the candidacy of Mr. Lincoln in 1960, and his election to be President, were in the interest of secession anti rebellion, and all,„yyho promoted the success. of the Re , pifblican ticket at the last Presidential election were alders and abettors of civil war. The Tribune adds: It was to this end that they (the en gineers) forced through the Senate of that year (1880) the Jeff. Davis plat form whereby Mr. Douglas and - his friends were virtually read out of the Democratic party. It was to this end that they deliberately. and determinedly completed the overthrow of that party by bolting from the Charleston Conven tion and nominating Breckenridge and Lane, against Douglas and Johnston, All through the canvass, we Republi cans recognized and treated the bolters as and powerful allies: And vtivri, through, their aid, we brult efett ed Lincoln and, Hamlin, our triumph . was nowhere more generally or openly exbited over than in Charleston, the fountain and focus of the rebellion. Could anything be more explicit than admissionthis , of the TWbune that in. 1860 it was but a minority of the Southern people—a small but industrious nest of secessionists and conspirators—who de sired and labored for separation from the people ofthe North ? These bad men in the , South had their counterparts in Garrison and Philips of the North. They were intelligent, acute, enterprising,'per &latent; and develish. So were and are the clique headed by Garrison and Phil lips. The large mass of the South was to these men, just as the best of the Re publican party, in its early days, was in antagonism with Garrison, Phillips,..and Pillsbury. They.•werein fact, what the Tribune calls the engineers of the rebell ion, and In the end, they fourid an effect ive ally in Abraham Lincoln. They had their headquarters in Charleston, from which city the Traptrns says, came open exultation over the Republican victory of 1860. flow did it happen that these few con spirators, scattered through the South, were able to gain victory over the mass es of the Southern States, and to Chain to the car of rebellion such men as Bell, Stephens, Rives, and`. others? It was simply by persistent representation that the Republican party intended to.destroy their property and make it valtdeess, and General McClellan is exact in statement when ho says that fear of this destrue tion of vested rights writhe direct cause of the war. The remote cause may have been, as the Tribune states, the la bors of Messrs. Calhoun, Yancey and Rhat., but the proximate cause is that given at West Point. The engineers of rebellion at the South inflamed the southern people by point ing to the efforts of men in the North to strike at the 'equality of the states, by putting the institutions of the South un der the ban of the Union ; to the efforts to confiscate slave property in transit through the North, the possession of which, during such transit was guaran teed by the same constitutional provi sions which secured to citizens of the North the right to go with their property or their domestic rights, through the Southern States ; to acts impeding, or nullifying the right •of reclamation of fugitives Tfoni service to an asylum of to a system of agitation and propagan dism ly means of societies, incorpo: rated and others for the purpose of preaching at the North a crusade against the institutions of the people of the South ern' States ; to the- open avowal by Mr. Lincoln that slave and free labor states could not co-exist in the same Union ; to the nomination of the author of this sentiment to be candidate of these Re. publican agitators for the presidency; and finally, to his election by a purely sec tional vote. If Abraham Lincoln, after his election; had uttered mere words of conciliation calculated to allay discontents among loyal Southern men, secession of the to bacco States would have been impossi ble, and Rhett Company conld'not have controlled one half the cotton States. South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi would have stood alone. , its , it was, a majority of the people of Vir ginia never favored or voted for secese slim. Mr. Lincoln seemed. to have du ring the Winter of 186041, but one model for executive action, and that wall' George the Third , of England!
