Hii's SP ROL' I . Vice President. D. H. liaze.:3, Sec. Pittsburgh, Jan. 23, 1 864 Democratic Primary Meetings. This afternoon and evening the Demo crats of the several Wards, Borough and Townships in the cities and count (of this county,) will meet in their re speetive districts to elect deletzates town next County Convention, which Nl ill a semble in the Court Hon- , on Wedue , day next, to di et delegates to our uea• State Convention. This St:ite Wage will be a very important - one; :tint. we trust to , ee our County Convention full one, and that it will elect wen to represent this county in it, dclitm r ations. SPRING ELECTIONS As is usual the State of New Hamp shire leads off the Spring elections, her contest, for State officers la-ing fixL the coining month. At the election, a year 112:0, in that tqate, the Democrat; were confident of being triumphantly , ta• cessful ; but they had no adequate 0 , 11, - 01,- tion of the resou tees and prodligacy of the Administration party. Feating feat, the Abolition contractor , : and otThice. holders bought a Demoerat , e °cheer in the Army to tun as an - lileiienilenl War Democrat," and by this means they succeeded in dividing Our r.ror , -; and ear rying their candidate. The vote ea,t, upon that occasion, was for EASTMAN, Democrat, 32,533; GmsionE, Republican, 29,085; HARLMAN, Independent, 4,37:2 Front these figures it will be sot n, that EASTMAN came within eight !lurid red and '-events - -four of a major ity over all ; and had it not been for the • shameful interference in the contest by the Administration at Was4ington, he would have been suc cessful by ten thousand majority. But when heads are so easily counted as they are in a small State like New Hamp shire, and where a party has a reserve of thirty thousand soldiers to fall hack upon and furlough for thirty days, pro vided they vote the Abolition ticket, there is but little use in contending against such overwhelming advantages. And yet, notwithstanding these palpable out rages, and similar ones since, in other Commonwealths, some of the Democrats of the Granite State talk seriously of carrying it at the approaching election. Alas, vain hope ! One of these writes to the New York World as follows : I have been a member of the State Central Commitee sixteen years—a part of the time in the late Whig party, and a part on the Democrat ic committee. I have more confidence in the election of the Democratic ticket this year than I have had any year since I have been a member of theetimmittee. This contemporary may be all that our able contemporary styles him—a gentle man of experience, caution and discrimi nation; and his calculations may be based upon sound sense and observation, but what then ? He knows, probably, almost the relative strength of parties in his State, but so do his Abolition oppo. nents, and thatis all they require to know, to enable them to succeed. lithe Demo crats are found to be five thousand in a majority, by the count of Union then ten thousand will be sent from the army, just as fifteen thousaml were sent last fall into Pennsylvania. New Hampshire leads off in this year's election, and next fall is the time fir the Presidential contest. Does any one tcho has been observing the current 01' affairs at Washington, imagine that LiNcoi has any idea of beim!. ilamaired for rc nomination I,y lu ittp that commonwelilth in the next month'. contest N ot a bit o r it.
