St. Mary's- cemetery The Catholic, fbr: tido week, contalus the Annual Report of t he Superintendent of Saiht Mary's Cemetery, from which we learn that the receipts during the year ending January Ist, 1883, amounted to $7,855,68 ; disbursments during the same period, $7,855,66, assets,. $13,788,11; liabilities, 03,766,11. We quote the conclusion of the report as follows : :Fifty-three Grave Lots have been sold during the past year for $2,384 50 making the total num ber of Lots sold to January let, 1864, 1,064. The number of - interments matte during the year amount to 623, of this number 84 were In terred without charge. Thetotal number of in terments on the Ist day ofJanuary,lB64 amount ed to 6,360. On the ist of January, 1863, the indebtedness of the Cleinetery amounted to $16,710 16; on the let of January, 1864, its liabilities are 812;740 60, Elbowing a decrease of nearly e4,u00 during the past year • beside, the interest imbruing on the debt has been promptly met as it became due, and all contingent and working expenses regularl3 paid. In addition to this, 20 Building Lots, con toting two acres of ground beingpart of the lower 10 tunes originally laid out in Building Lots, have been added to the Cemetery. The advant ages to be derived, hereafter, by this increase to the areaof the grounds can scarcely be over es- 'Masted; a fact of which all must become con- ; vinced who will observe the increase in the num ber of Lots sold, and interments made, during the past few years. Tenof the above mentioned Lots were unsold, ! and belonged to the Cemetery, the remaining 10 were obtained by purchase and exchange from the parties who originally bought them from the Cemetery, at an aggregate cost offS92:l M. When you take Into consideration that ground not so advantageously situated is held at 83,500 per acre, the advantage of the purchase, even in a pecuniary point of view, will add considerably to the value of the grounds. During the past year, Col. H. M'Collough pur chased the mortgage held by Richard L. Ewalt against the Cemetery'. lie, however, subse quently transferred the mortgage to Rt. Re, Bishop Dornenec, in trust for St. Paul's congre gation, to the Traainirer of which all payments will be made in future, until the mortgage against the Cemetery he entirely liquidated.
