General, et-C.,- The following intercepted rebel corres pondence has fallen into our hands, and we give it for the benefit of the Public: The following is an extiliet of a letter from Little Rock, Arkansas, February 6, 1863, taken from the original spelling, do c. : The Crops—The Prospect in the Grain-Growing States. Ae to_the prospect, in the principal ag ricultural States, we gather from our exchanges the folloiring exhibit : rimy YORK. AND NEW JERSEY. In this State wheat looks well, and planting operations incident to the season are well advanced. In New Jersey the wheat and grain crops promise to be very large, especially in the central counties of Somerset, llanterdon, Middlesex, Burlington, Monmouth and Mercer, in which the aggregate production in past years has equaled that of any districts of similar extent in the whole country. In the Southern tier of counties a large yield of fruit, especially of peaches and apples, is anticipated. PENNSYLVANIA AND MARYLAND. In Pennsylvania the planting of corn has been interfered with by unpropitious weather, but wheat, oats and rye look well, and promise a heavy yield. In Maryland the spring crops appear to be less advanced than in any other State, the late heavy rains having so saturated the earth that, up to the 9th inst., ploughing was impossible. In the very high ground vhere the soil.is a light loam, the farm• era have been able to plant their corn but in the lower lands no plowing has been done for the past two weeks. Gen erally speaking, though, the wheat looks well and promises and abundant harvest, except in the more depressed land, where it it almost drowned out. There is now, al o, everywhere an indication of an abundance of fruit. The trees were kept back by the late cold weather and the blossoms now show promise of a large crop. In Michigan, wheat, on the whole, pre sented a most promising appearance, though, in some places, there are patches that have suffered from the weather. In Berrain County there will he an abundant harvest, in Shiawassee County the fields never looked better ; in Clinton, Calhoun, Jackson, Washtenaw, Lenetwee and Hills dale a large crop is promised, while in all parts of the State the yield of fruit, of all kinds, is likely to be very large. In St. Joseph County peppermint has been ex tensively planted. Lastyear the essential oil realized from this source was disposed of Cir $37,500. In Illinois, the growing wheat is said never to have looked more promising than now ; the spring has also been very favor able for getting corn and oats into the ground, of which large crops will be rais ed. Of the prospect in the central art of the State, the Bloomington Pantogra p ph says: • "We learn from various persons that crops, thus, far, look promising. The winter wheat—what there was of it—gives fair promise, and the spring wheat is com ing forward and has an even and healthy loo'r, The ground, this spring, has been is unusually good order for work, and the farmers are beforehand with their labor,. The ground for corn - planting is mostly prenared, and a good many have begun planting. The prospect for fruit is imam ally good. Apple, pear and cherry trees are almost teeming with blossoms, and there is a remarkably fine promise fur peaches." The Freeport Journal says there never was a better prospect for fruit than there is this season. INDJA.*.A • - The Indianapolis Sentinel says the far. mars in that vicinity report the ground in fine condition for corn-planting. The peach crop promises to be very abundant. The wheat, which in the winter did not look very favorable, now looks fine and it Bays that there will be no end to the grass. The Goshen Times says: "Wheat seems to have suffered lees than usual du ring the past winter, and we do not hear many complaints in regard to the ravages ' of the 'fly,' which has done serious injury to our crops." The Covington Spirit says : "The wheat looks remarkably well, and the pre sent indication are that, unless ioniething unusual befalls it, there will be a heavier yield of wheat the coming harvest than there has been for years. The open win. I ter did not injure the crop, as it frequent ly does. Oar farmers are confidentially looking forward to a largo crop to repay their labor. - no own everything lookaequafly promis . - mg. - The Keoknuk Gate City says the farm ers report "that the prospect for an abun dant crop ofwheatlbe coming harvest was never better than it looks now. The win• ter wheat looks unusually well ; and, al though the spring has been rather dry for springwheat l yet the greater part of it looks line. Whatever may be our condition as a Country, we will be in no danger of starvation, and our armies will riot *mit, for supplies," The Ottumwa (Iowa) Courier says: * 1 "We receive the most encouraging ac 'counts of the present flattering prospects of wheat throughout this region —at least fall wheat—of which a large quantity VW sown. late; from Olathe, Kansas, Faye "We had a number of fine rains, and grpatOooks fine.
