A corresj - iondent of the Eveniag Gazelle go:es the f,}!lowing account of the capture of the rebel steamer Water Witch, by a wdll know Pittsburgher, Captain J. E. I Neeld : "On Saturday last, the gunboat. De Soto was detailed by Admiral Porter, in charge of captain Neeld, to convoy the steamer Fox, with three barges of coal, to Helena. The first night, the De Soto laid at Columbus, and on Monday night, was , detained at Point Pleasant, by the ground. in'g of a barge. On Tuesday morning, they got offagain, and ran down to a point two miles above the mouth of Obion. It was known that there was a steamer hid in the mouth of Obion, and it was feared that the rebels would attack the De Soto during the night. A strict watch was kept up, men were stationed at the guns and hot water battery, but beyond hearing the rumbling of wagons or artillery on shore. and observing Ahe movements of lights, nothing tranapd. "At daybreak the De Soto ran ahead, pushed into the mouth of the Obion as far as the mud wduld permit, and then sent the cutter, with Mr. Campbell, engineer, Mr. Britten, Carpenter, and two deck ' hands, in command of Mr. Boren. pilot, all armed with muskets, and covered by the guns of the De 'Soto, two 12-pounders. The prize was' ; soon in the heads of our men. There were seven or eight men on board, who made no resistance, but claim ed the protection of the British flag. They were ordered to let go the lines of the ves sel and drop her down, which they did, and the De Sold started with her in tow. "On the way, Capt. Neeld met the gun. boat Baron De Kalb going up to capture the Water Witch, and the men were much disappointed upon finding the vessel in charge of the De Soto. Capt. Neeld car ried out the orders of the Admiral in the most handsome manner. The prize is a side-wheeler, and will be taken to Cairn The limited Men The Harrisburg Telegraph learns from an official "sourcethat Gen.
