The steamer Atlantic reached Port Royal on the 2d inst. General Stevens, with 1,000 men, had occupied the town of Beaulort. The gunboat Pawnee, several transports and a Lumber of troops left Hilton Head on the 4th inst. to occupy Tybee General Sherman had appointed Col. Noble, of the Seventy-ninth New York regiment, and Col Suydam to superintend the picking and securing of =utton at Hil ton Head and other adjacent Mends. The health of the troops was good. No lighting had occurred. General Viele's expedition would probably sail about the 12th inst. Bridge Burning Confirmed LOUI6VILLE, December 11.—The re. port that Captain lievitt, with forty men of Col. Burbridge's regiment, burned the bridge at Whipporwill, five miles from Russellville, on tee Memphis branch Rail. road, is confirmed.
