TRIMMINGS AND FANCY GOODS —The Old established trimming store of Jusei h Horne, Market street, between Fourth and the Diamond, has always been a favorite resort of the ladies, but this is mere partic ularly true at the present time. Mr. Horne has just filled up his stock and now has on hand a complete assortment, em+ bracing every article in his line, gloves, ribbons, hosiery, trimmings andladies . fancy goods in endless variety. Every thing offered at this establishment can be relied upon as just what is represented and will be sold at the lowest easel price, the purchases having been made so as to war rant sales at the smallest margin of profit. To most of our lady readers these remarks are superfluous—they are intended mere particularly for strangers and others who have not learned where to get the best end cheapest goods. HAD NO CONNEuTIL N Cheap John, of Fifth street, desires us to state that having given up the control of the "Gaieties' ex hibition hall he had nothing to do with the exhibition there on Saturday night, when the disturbance which we noted yes terday occurred. The exhibition was giv en by a numter of performers, entirely in dependent of him, and he was not in any way responsible for the disturbance. Ho had leased the place and given satisfactory performances, Dot, unable to secure such good artistes as he desired, abandoned the enterprise. He now has no connection with the establishment, which was from the beginning entirely distinct from the other business in which he is engaged. - - FIENDISII.—On l'hursdoy night about night o'clock, a train of cars from 'Wheel ing, over the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, when near Brady's Mills, about seven miles West of Cumberland, was thrown from the track. Some fiends had taken up two rails with the design of destroying the whole train. The engine and tender were badly broken up, but the passenger car was not damaged. The diabolical act is supposed to have been done by men under one McDonald, a vile secession ecr•uadrel, who is Captain of a rebel cavalry company stationed at Romney. DIBSOLUTIOM.—We refer our rtaders to our advertising columns for a notice of dissolution of the firm of Demler, Shultz & Co., Mr. J. T, F. Walter retiring from the flrm and leaving the business to the remaining members of the firm, who will carry on the business as heretofore at the old stand, corner of Virgin alley and Smithfield street, under the style of Dem. ler & Shultz. They are prepared to fur• nish every required article of tinned or japaned ware. SHOCKING RAmiteAD ACCIDENT.—The fast line coming West on Friday afternoon ran over and instantly killed a little girl aged three years, daughter of Mrs. Hop, king, while playing on the track at Kin. zer's station. The child, horribly mutila• ted, was picked up by its mother. The engineer saw the child too late to check the speed of the locomotive, but he blew the whistle as an alarm. The train was de tained for a short time. SMLIOUS ACCIDRAT.-A workman on the Pennsylvania Railroad, named Josiah Walters, was seriously injured ()lithe Rail. road on Friday, at Middletown, by falling from the repair truck, the wheels of which ran over him, crushing one of his legs be low the knee. He was taken to lds resi dence in Harrisburg, whore he received medical attention. THE NIGER VALLEY.—We are indebt ed to the author, Martin R, Delaney, for a copy of his report of the proceedings of the Niger Valley Exploring Party, which spent some eighteen months in that portion of Africa lying on the coast of Guinea and Liberia. Our Ar my Con esptldeuce tiOeP'T DIeP'T. CSMp 31CCLELLAN, NEAR W.LBLIINDTON CITY, D C October E. 13, 1861, EDITOR POST: /Ed. you a letter from Port Tobacco, just previous to cur setting cut for home (Camp McClellan) On Saturday last cur train left the above place at 9 o'cltck and marched a distance of seventeen miles, reaching the village of Piseethaway, through which we formally passed. Hero we passed the night and surely expected to pass the next day, but were informed that we would have to in. fringe on General McClellan's last order, (regarding the Sabbath) as it was positives. by necessery that wo snould be in Camp that day; so came another march of fifteer, mites, and that made in the afternoon. Leaving Piscathaway at 1 o'clock"we ar rived in Camp McClellan by 7, all hale and hearty, feeling none the worse of our knapsack drill of over 200 miles. By tcaaning the map of Maryland (in a late testae of Harper's Wec/.ly) you can form a lair idea of our late raid, viz: through P;scathawae, Brandywine, .McGorden's Ferry and Benedict, to Newport, Lower Cedar Point ar.d Post Tobacco, thence home via. the former place. It was a suc cessful expeditioe, throughout, much valu able informatien being gained by it, and aso property to a great value. However, we are once more back again, our keep sacks unpacked, and talking over the feed ing incidents of our late trip with pleasure and anxious for a ropeetion of it at no late day. We are 14e y to be gratified in the last desire, as we are again under marching orders at least. By Surgeon's orders I have Gar field cases, strechers, medicines, So., in readiness to move at a moment's notice. What, does this appear like ? To tee it diacioes visions of Mun son's Hill, big guns, ,&c , but it nay amount to the slime as some of our preys, use orders and we may not leave for some ..length of periods" yet Our regiment is now occupi , td is clearing away a space and erecting barracks fur winter cluarters-- The situation overlooks the city and is one of importance. Day before yesterday we received our .New York unifsrais, consist ing of a dark blue jeclet, with shoulder straps and State of .New York buttons, light blue pants and regulation caps.. It gives the regiment quite another appear. ance as our tate jaunt had teen the rearms of soiling the former uniforms considera• bay. Capt. Gerard's company arrived .in Camp yesterday, having now cast their lot along with us. They are principally Ger• wars and few faces familiar to us, but a great majority of our company appear to be intimately acquainted with theist Liee tenant, Louy Hager of Fifth street. They were dissatisfied with Col. hippy's Regi ment from some cause unknown as yet to your informant, and took a wise course in joining the '•Excelsior Regiment." The welcome phi: of the Paymaster is visible in Camp to day and a heavy rumor is afloat that the ducats will be forthcoming on the morrow, which has created quite a pleasant sensation hereabouts. Long it wave MVO The health of our encampment has been, thus far, ail that that could be desired, only three or four being seriously ill, and they now convalescent. Tho sick report snows more of coughs and colds than any other case, and those of a minor clays. 1 forgot to mention the welcome return of Capt. Brunn, who met us s.t Piscathaway. He bad, as usual, a large amount of pres ents from Ones at Home ; also, an unusu ally large mail which was, however, soon devoured by the newa-hungry soldiers. We received him with three hearty cheers and a tiger. He immediately took come mend of the company and lead us rich , ri ously over the rough roads of Mar) lard home, and that without the loss of a single roan Bravo : I learn that the Pennsyl vania regiments are to be allowed the priv ilege of casting their electoral votes in their respective camps. We are deprived of this sacred privilege by being enrolled in a for eign regiment (Gov. Curtin's late act).— This is pleasant—fighting for our country's glorious ranee and yet deprived of our elec tive franchise. The hour now grows late and as 1-have the manufacture of sundry pills on my mind, I will leave you for the pres ent. if anything of importance transpires ycu shall be immediately informed of the fact by your correspondent, 11,. C. I'. S. While quartered at Port Tobacco, the mail which wee in readiness for depart ure was, by some careless means or other destroyed by tire, which may account for the nun-arrival of letters at home from the boys. n C Li. -.IGT —Oa Saturday evening, four row dies, Ham Beaty, George Wise and David and Henry Stewart, entered the tavern of a soldier's wife at Pine creek, and beat the bar-keeper, a man named Dialler. iu a most shameful manner.
