J F.; F 1 , 101,WN CITY, Sept 21, —A special dispatch to the St. Louis Republican says: Captain Goggard, cf the 25ta Illinois reg. mant, has arrived here from Othsville, where he heard yesterday that Claib Jack.. son was advancing on Booneville with some one thousand men. Price was march ing towards Georgetown with about 2,090 men, the army at Lexington having been divided for that purpose. ' Gen. Davis is in command of our forces' at Georgetown, at which point a large number of troops can be concentrated in a short time. The rebels were reported as moving for ward to burn the Lemine bridge, but it was well defended. Scouting parties were reported near Booneville last night. Gen. Siegel went West from here to-day. Ex-Governor King and Judge Rigland have been released by the rebels. Nothing reliable hhe been ascertained as tr , the whereabouts of Ben McCulloch. Two of the crew of the steamer Clara Bell have arrived from Booneville. They report that Col. Mulligan took possession of the Clara Bell and about one-third of her cargo on the 12th inst.,..and then or,. dered bar to drop down opposite his in teenchments She was afterwards capture ed by the rebels and the remainder or her cargo seized. She was ladened with mar. chancliza for Santa Fe, valued at about thirteen thousand dollars. No considerable number of Price's troops had left Lexington on Tuesday. No batteries were seen on the river banks between Lexington and Booneville. ' Gen. Sturgis, with eleven hundred men, reached a point on the north aide of the river, six miles from Lexington, on the 19th, but learning that some five thousand of Price's rebels were stationed in the woods skirting the river waiting his ap proach, he marched to Liberty, and thence to Kansas City, Where he 11U W is, Reports r( glinted as reliable have been received here that Col. Montgomery, of Ganerat Lane's command, attacked Occola, St. Clair county, on Friday last, burned the town by shelling it, and repulsed a large force of rebels. There are said to be about 4,000 rebels in Laclede county, committing all kinds of depredations upon Union men. Forbert & Cos. store, at Linn Croek, has been robbed again, and Shit time some $70,000 worth of property was carried off. The train that went west from harelast night with the Illinois 35th, and Brigdiera General Davis and staff aboard, stopped at Otterville tcaelay, passing over the Lemine bridge. The road is now in running order through to Sedalia. The next train with troops will probably go through to that point. There are now along the road at and west of Syracuse, the Indiana 35th, the Missouri 3d, the Nebraska Ist, a large pore tion of Col.Ead's Missouri regiment and 350 men of Col. Bissell's Pioneer regiment. At or near Boonville, there are the lowa oth, the Indiana 18th; 512 d and 26th, (apt. Davidson's battery, ane Major Eppstein's Home Guards. Matters are represented as quiet In the neighborhood of those forces west of them. The Secessionists are rising, and General Price's forces in a few days will doubtless be augmented to 30,000 or 40,000. There is nothing from Lexington today .IMr Release of General Blalr. . - ST. Lours, Sept. 26.—The following is a portion of a note directed to Col. Mr. Hudgins arrived tot-day with a flag of truce from Lexington, with a propo sition for the exchange of Col. Marshall, of the First Illinois cavalry, captured at Lexington, for Price L. Hudgins, mem ber of the State Convention, now confined in the arsenal here. It is understood that the proposition has been accepted and Hudgins set at liberty. The following is the text of the original telegram sent by Gen. Fremont to Wash.- ington In relation to the surrender of Lex ington : HEADb UARTERS • WESTERN DEPARTMENT, ST. Louis, Sept. 23. 1861. Lane's force from ,the Sout-West, and Davis' from South-East, upwards of 11,000 in all could not get there in time.
