MONDAY MORNING:
HARD TIMES.
People are continually grumbling. is
there a man or a woman in this sublunary
sphere who is contented? If there is, liar
num
ought to secure that individual.—
.Everybody wants more money than he
Las
got, and everybody thinks he can make it if
he only, has a chance. Here in Ameriea peo
plejumpleadleng into all sorts of specula
tionslO"make money " no matter how un
reasonable they may. be. young men make
haste to-" go into business " before they have '
by patient labor acquired a proper knowl
edge of business or accumulated a dollar of
capital, and away they rush. They " handle
money" for a time and labor under a delu
sion Aiff they have made it. With a, big
sign indifienty of customers they branch
out" beyond their means and sooner or later
ninety-nine out or a hundred are bankrupt.
With high hopeS expeCtations
men go. into business, and when they see
that they have over=reached themselves they
make a great display to, keep up appearan
ces until final ruin comes. They dazzle the
world with their extravagances to conceal
the rotten condition of their finances.
It ia'eitravagance and false ideas of honor
and position in society which makes so many
complaints of bard times in this country.
People spend more than they earn " to keep
up appearances." To. be considered fasll
- and " ariatocratic " debts must be
made and remain unpaid. Friends sutler
and tradesmen are 'victimized. Society is
in a wrong condition. It is a false demand
that men. must ruin themselves to keep up
appearances. People should learn to live
within their incomes if they wish to
get . rid of hard times. The payment of
debts - promptly should be looked upon as
a . rmoral dtity. Our churches should teach
the doctrine that repudiation of debts is
much akin to robbery. If these things can
be done, we shall at once have a remedy for
hard - times, and a. sound practical recipe for
promoting: human happiness. Every one
should be content to live upon his income.
Long :credits should be avoided, and short.
credits, too, - except in cases of ab , olute
cesaity. Superfluities and luxuries should 1,0
purchased for cash only. If this is dom.
there will be less discussion about •' credit "
and "currency," and less talk about " hard
times."

N ADVERTISMIENT in the Peona
Tramcrirt, of November 4th, calls on Coal Diggers
to come to Peoria to work. It states that from 150 to aio
can find employment. As we deem such an advertise
ment calculated to mislead many already nearly impov
erished miners, we take this occasion to state, there is
now more coal-diggers here than can find employment,
and warn an to stay away. Many that have been attract
ed here by suds unwarrantable calls, are in a suffering
condition, after paying oui their little-all to get here.

ARTIFICIAL TEETH.
TT is well known that first chills Dentistry.
hal been beyond the reach of the mass of people,
on account of its costliness, and the Majority, rather
than take up with the inferior workmanship of "cheap
Dentists," have adopted the wiser course and done
without any, for it a set of teeth be imperfect in work
manship and inexact in fit, it is worse than eseless end
dear at any price.
--
TH E CORALITE ANDPORCELAINTEbiIt have in
augurated a new era in the science of dentistry—.being
the very best Artificial Teeth now in nee,. they inui be
afforded at prices that place them within the reach of
all.
Being the first to introduce these new styles of work
to this community, I accordingly fixed such prices as I
deemed would remunerate the hest artistic and me—
chanic%) skill. Since then. howevcr, the unprecedented
favor with which the work has been received, has com
pelled other Dentists to adopt it, some of whom wish to
retain the old gold plate prices, which I consider would
be exorbittuib for, though the now, styles are really
more valuable than the be qt gold work, - they era made
of less expensive material. 'file increased amount of
work done also compensates for the reduction' in price-
On the other hand, c few Dental Quacks of this city,
who po4sess neither mechanical skill or common bon-
esty, advertise the work at prices &lightly less than my
_onn_noc.,thktandinn_they have neither the ability nor
the right (it being patenredyto mAnuracture it. _The
object of this trickery, is merely to obtain an opportu
nity to disparage the Corslite and Porcelain and recom
mend some of their own worthless work.
I have felt bound, in justice to myself and tlici_ptiblic„,
to make known these facts. •
The qualities of the PGROF.LAIN AXD CORALITE
,PLATI", TEETH, which establish their greateuperiority.
over the best gold or other me toile - plate are—entire free
dom from all metahe taste, smell or tarnish, being en
corrodible and impervious to the juices of the month:
perfect ,adaptation or fit, {lmpossible in metalio work,)
which, with much greater strength and lightneaNenar
bles them to b,3 worn with more ease, comfort and anti-.
ty, They are also far more durable, less liable to acci
dent and more easily repnred. - ,
The public are invited to call and examine these new
styles of work at
