We, too, were minus a turkey "aay, and’ yet we had turkey in a dream on thanksgiving, which we found to serve so well, as to all infonts and purposes” as well as tastes, fot we recommend if. here, to our | rethren of the press—ounly, we awoke with ahoedipty stomadh, and thiit'cdn readily be filled at any time with mush or pbtuties, leaving that depot in better vrder than an overdose of turkey real would. Now the oper ation of ating turkey, in ¢ dream, is accompanied by all the fun and fixings of eating turkey in broad day light, with your eyes “open tight.” For in- stance, we had the table set with the finest silver-ware, and the choicest wines,—which is not always the case when tarkey is served up in propria persona. The whole affair was cheap, too, und gotten up without any trouble, and everybody and “their friends’ were present, und a “gay old time” was had, such as Centre Hall don’t often witness. The affair lasts as long as real turkey dinners, and is preferable in this, that you do not awake, with a headache and “out 0’ sorts all “over,” us when you feast upon the genuine obbler washed down with régular J. .‘benzine. Our friends from a dis- tance were around the board, too, and wined, dined and turkied to their fill, and tonsted us right and left, and paid their subscription to the Reporter sev- eral years in advance, which none think of doing when invited to turkey real. We can now turn up our nose at all turkey eating New England for we can keep up with 'em when thanksgiving comes around, and no one has slyly slipped us a gobbler. We can go it as well in a dream, and waken up with a clear head, instead of feeling as though we had busted Ply- mouth Rock to pieces with the depart- ment over our shoulders. The press was represented at cur turkey party, and some of our brethern of the quill were heavily loathe to leave, as the whole affair was so charming to them, 'specially the feller “J. B.” who in- fused all with life and spirit. M'Crack- en, of the Natwnal, was among the last to go, and when he reached the door to depart, he cast back one long- ing look, then forward to his compan: ions, hailing them, “come fellers lezz ‘ave nother wizzy ‘fore starten.” Brown was there, and astonished all by toasting the “Court House Ring," and said he'd jine it too, for he already felt the ring in his head, You who have turkeys and don’t believe this, Just send us your Christmas gobblers, and try turkey in a dream, and if you are not satistied with the change, let us know, January 1st, 1870. —. -— DEATHS.
