BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY
TIIK tallowing'article wo copy with pleasure from
the ‘-Uonon Mercantile Journal," of March, IS4U,
and we liope that i( any of 08r readers arc suffering
from aay of ti>< complaints which it is said to cure,
they will speedily avail themselves of it:
>R WJSTAK’B BALSAM OF WILDCHERRY
It was writ known many yean ago thet the wiM
cherry bark tree of this climate possessed valuable
medicinal qualities. Indeed this fact was known to
thr aborigines, and decoctions of the loaves or bark of
UU» tree has ever been regarded by their physicians as
oiie ef thie most eflootnal remedies in many diseases.
Ttus fact, several yean since, arrested iho attention of
Dr. Wisiar, a highly respectable practitioner of Vir
ginia. lie investigated with care the healing proper*
u<-» of the wild cherry—tested its effects when admin-
tsterrd alone, and when tn combination with other re
medial arem*. He found that its natural virtue might
be greatly improved, and by combining it with ingre
dient* whose properties were all well proved and gen
erally reeoguiied, a medicine was produced which
commute* a remedy oi great importance in pulmona
ry affections and dis ase* of Uto chest and throat—
diseases which are proverbially prevalent in our cities
and large towns, and often prove fatal, swelling tho
bill of mortality to a much greater extent than is the
case with most others, wo had almost said all classes
of disease.
The genuine Wisur's Balsam of Wild Cherry has a
fac simile of the signature of Henry Wistar, M. IX,
Philadelphia, and Sandford and Park on a finely exe
cuted steel engraved wrapper. None other are gen-
We are just in receipt of the following voluntary tri
bute to the curative power of Wistar*# Balsam of Wild
Cherry, from E. Hall, M- D-, of Mb Clemens, Michi
gan, who is a physician of high standing, and an ex
tensive druggist:
Mr. Cuorna, Mieh., Oet-SDih, 1849.
To the afflicted, this may certify that Mrs. B- Rob
erts, of this village, three or four weeks after confine
ment, was attacked with a violent cough and great
prostration, and seemed hastening to the grave with
fearful rapidity 1 advised her to ue Wistar’s Balsam
of Wild cherry—*he did so, and with that valuable
medicine alone'was restored to health, and is now a
living proof of the value of Wisuu 1 * Balaam of Wild
Cherry. E. HALL,
Physician and Druggist.
Rea l on and be convinced still further of the remar
kable virtues of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry:
Means. Sandford A Paiki Gents- As a matter of Jus
tice to yon. and for the benefit of the public, I would
offer the following statement of a cure effoctod by yonr
medicine, known as Wistar 1 * Balsam of Wild Cherry.
In the spring of 1647 my wifo*wu severely attacked
with IVnpneamoota, or Pleurisy, whieh resulted In a
deep seated pain in tho side, accompanied with a se
vere cough; she was attended by some of the best
physicians In Chicago, hut to no purpose; for weeks
sho suffered, without relief, coughing Incessantly night
and day. I came to the conclusion tbut all the reme
dies xnovmtto the physicians could not help her, and
was induced to try your Wild Cherry. Iprocutedono
bottle, and eommeneed using it according to direc
tions; before it was all gono—tho eough . stopped, the
pain in her side left her, and' with the aid of another
bottle she was restored to rsxmcT bxsltb. In con
sideration of these c Ire am stances, 1 would recommend
it to the public as a valuable medieine.
Yours, respectfully, R. N. GARRATT.

Of all the cures that have been .recorded, there are
certainly none equal to the one fieri mentioned, which
plainly shows the curability of Consumption, even in

J. D. Park: Dear Sir, As 1 have a deep comraiscra
tiofr for the afflicted, permit me to give you a brief
history of my afflictions, and the benefits derived from
the use of Dr. Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry.
Jn July. 1844, 1 was attacked with a fever or the ty
phnd character, which left me in a very debilitated
state, when in the following winter I was taken with a
severe cold, which reduced me to saefa an extent as to
r've me the appearance of a confirmed consumption.
labored under a severe cough—expectorated a great
deal, and wan troubled with cold feet and night sweat*.
I also frequently raised blood from my lungs. 1 con
tinued in this state, gradually diking under the dis
ease, until January, lb-17, when 1 was again attacked
with fever. My friends despaired of toy life, and my
physician* thought I could •arrive-,but a short time.
My extremities, especially my feet, were constantly
cold, and almost lost their feeling, under these eh
oumstanccs it may truly be said that 1 was a living
skeleton. I finally determined to quit taking medteiue
prescribed by physicians, and try Dr. Wisur’s Balsam
of Wild Cherry, and from the first week -that 1 com
menced taking a, 1 can dote a gradual recovery. 1
rnnunurd it* use six months, at the end of which time
t wa« cured, and have enjoyed good health ever since,
and cheerfully recommend the Balsam to all those af
flicted with disease of the lungs, and woald say to
those commencing its use, not to be discouraged if two
or Hirer hollies do not effect a care; but persevere as I
have doer, and I have ho doubt but nine eases out of
ten will hr Messed with renewed health os I have
been Respectfully, yours,
JOSEPH JACKSON.
