The trade has been steady, although the trans
actions of beef have been limited, and holdert are
iirm as to prices.
Little has been done as to pork. The qsantity
of western prune mess, though better than la*l
year, i# scarcely fine enough lor ship stoics. Whilst
the high price al which eastern is held checks
operations.
Bacon is steady. Sales and prices are firm at
35c039s per cwt, for long middlings, tree of bone.
For bacon in dry salt 335036 6d.; for the same
quality, ribbed in short, the same quality brings
330405, according to quality. Hams have reced
ed -1*029, to cut and smoke; in canvass they are
quotetPst in salt, neither smoked nor
dried, 30a012s per cwt. A full of 2s per cwt. has
taken place in the value of Lard. There is little
activity in the market for American t heebe, and
pr:qes coalioue without change.
