'MCAT= A. , a) Rirtms--Yesterday a heavy rain
fell which cooled the atmosphere and effectually
laid the dupt, to day it has been cloudy, wet and
unfavorable for out door business. The river op
posite here is receding, and from last accouhts all
the upper streams were in the same condition. In
the Illinois 61:1r feet is reported on the principal
bars by the steamer Domain, down to day. From
four to four and a half feet in the chanpel from
this to Keokuk, and twenty-two to twenty-four in
ches on the Lower Rapids. In the Missouri scant
three feet Is reported on the bars from St Joseph
to Brunswick, and three and a half from thence
down. From this to cairo there is a channel
depth of from seven to eight feet on the principal
tiara and the largest class steamers continue to go
oat heavily freighted.—[Repute.
The .steamer Amaranth reports having met the
steamer Pakatine at the foot of (stood 10 to tow
of the Yazoo Belle, the P. having bunt her for
ward cylender head. No person was injured by
