Thug peculiar importance, is derived from the
novel and extraordinary policy that has marked
the present Administration, the consequences that
have followed it and others to which at leads. The
spirit of aggreasion and war, conquest and acqui

immedve'execuuve patronage, extended sphere of
government action. and • dangerous disregard of
the sacred injunctions of the Constitution. These
are new in the history of our Government, and if
they ore to become the settled policy for the future,
our institutions must inevitably undergo a thor
ough change, that will endanger every thing that
was achieved by our independence, and every
blessing that has been vouched safe to us by the
wisdom of the past.
Are we prepared to abandon that policy which
has made us all that we are, and promise all that '
we could hope for, to follow the schemes of ambi
