Bodies Ji>i Associated Press Calgary, Alberta, Mar. 13. —Dele- gates to the Inter-Provincial con ference of Canadian labor unions : voted unanimously here to-day in | favor of severing affiliations with American labor organizations and forming a Canadian federation to be known as "the one big union." The resolution, which Was declared by labor leaders to mark one of the mpst momentous moves in the his tory of organized labor in Canada, will be referred to the various un ions represented for ratification. Arthur Ilib ler and Harold Conner at Hazleton, and the affirmative team at home. The assembly room at Central High School was packed to the doors last, evening when the debating team of that institution gave the Reading team n hard jolt by getting the unanimous decision of the judges. Parents, fellow-students and in terested outsiders listened spelled bound as the gifted young orators of both sides poured forth eloquent arg uments and pleas for systems they considered best adapted to the need of their country in the present crisis. Carl B. Stoner, Stuart Wagner and Winston Roniig won the debate for Central, upholding the affirmative side. Joseph Kcker. Arthur Widner and Harvey Hunsicker representing Reading High School, fought hard and well for the negative side of the question: Resolved. That the I'nited States should adopt a system of uni versal military service. Tht preparedness and an adoption of the universal military system would eventually lead to miitarism in the United States and the whole world (since United States is a lead er of the word) was a point upheld by the negative team and vehemently downed by the opposing team.
