I! R)R BELGIAN RELIEF
With the official sanction of Mrs.
■ I.ynian D. Gilbert, chairman of the
Harrisburg Chapter American Red
■ Cross, the campaign for clothing to
11 be sent to Belgian and French refu
-11 gees closed last night. It is not
i known exuetly how large the total
• of Harrisburg's contribution is, but it|
i' is certain, officials say. that the quota,
of twenty tons assigned to the cityl
has been passed with Hying colors.
• Though the drive was closed hist
night. Motor Messengers and volun
teer workers will be kept busy for
several days cleaning up the las min
ute details. A large number of calls
• are awaiting the messengers and
j clothing continues to pour into head
quarters and the various receiving
' stations.
INSPECT PIGGERY <,
Members of city council and other
officials arranged for an inspection j
j trip this afternoon to the piggery!
maintained by Hagy Brothers, con
tractors for garbage collections tnt
Harrisburg. The piggery was estab-j
lished months ago on a farm north-'
west of the city after the contract •
had been let to the Hagy firm to do,
the eollecting work. All the garbage'
collected in the cty is hauled to the,
piggery and fed to the porkers. Early:
in the year shortly after the collec
tions had started the officials made!
a similar inspection. |
