LOW RECORD IN TYPHOID CASES Remarkable Showing Made in This State During Month of February This Year According: to figure* just com piled at the State Department of Health for the month of February there were but 52 deaths from ty phoid fever in that month, estab lishing the lowest record for typhoid deaths In February and being only two higher that the lowest month ly record of the department's twelve year statistics, July, 1915, when fif ty occurred. Deaths from typhoid have been declining steadily in Pennsylvania. In February, last year, there were 73 and in 1915, 59; in 1912, 110; In 1909, 134; and 1917 374. During February the births in tho state were 18,827 and deaths 11,187, deaths due to pneumonia being al most one fifth or 2,09 G. Deaths from tuberculosis were 1,061; and Bright's disease, 875. One death occurred from smallpox and 70 per sons committed suicide, while 163 died from railway injuries and 89 were killed in mines. Other causes of death were: scar let fever, 23; diphtheria, 129; mea sles, 56; whooping cough, 110; smallpox, 1; influenza, 186; malaria, 1; cancer, 508; diabetes, 106; men ingitis, 76; acute anterior poliomy elitis, 5; diarrhoea and enteritis, un der 2 years, 223; diarrhoea and en f.
