In making known its intention to ab&ndon the report, the War Depart ment explained last night that the new publicity policy was nearing completion, but did not indicate the form the communiques would take. It is believed, however, an official daily summary dealing almost ex clusively with the activities of Amer ican troops will be given out. Woman Sees Fleeing Milk Thief, Neighbor Milk thieves have been operating in the vicinity of Herr and James streets, it is alleged. This morning while a woman who has been the victim of the thief, was watching from the front windbw ,she saw a man take the bottle of milk from the porch and flee up the street. The woman followed him and saw him enter a residence not far from her home. The thefts, it is understood, will be reported to the city police. 'Sturmpanzerkraftwagen,' Meaning German Tank I'aris. May 6. —The war corre spondent at the front for tha Temps writes: "Some one asked me recently what the Germans called their 'tanks.' I was compelled to confess ignorance. A document found since, however, shows that the German for tank is 'Sturmpanzerkraftwagen.' " CIITRCH TO AID RED CROSS An appeal to the members of his church to join the Pine Street Red Cross auxiliary was made by the Rev. Dr. Lewis Seymour Mudge at the services last night. There are at present 250 active members, but the Harrisburg Chapter has asked the Pine Street Chapter to furnish 1,000 front line packets each month, and more workers are needed. Women will be enrolled until Friday night. BRITISH MINE NORTH SEA Washington, May 6. —Tho War Department has been advised that the British have gone a long way to ward meeting the submarine menace by covering the floor of the North Sea with mines for an area of 121,- 182 square miles and thus effec tually blocking Its northern exit to Germany's deadliest instrument of v/arefare.
