Wolcott at the annual Red Cross meeting in Technical High school auditorium last evening. Gruesome tales of Ger man atrocities made auditors' blood boil as they listened. Mr. Wolcott's several years of experience on the battlefront, and among the people of the stricken countries, gave him an intimate knowledge of war con ditions. "Poland is a nation dying of star vation. I have traveled 230 miles by automobile, about a year and a half ago, and as 1 traveled, along the side of the road we saw thousands of bones of dead human beings. Miser able barracks were filled with a rem nant of the Polish people, reeking with vermin and dying of typhus. These barracks were the people's only home. The Germans had de stroyed all their property. There was a balance October 1 of $2,911.83. Augustus Ebner, Aged 89, • Dies at New Cumberland ■. ■ New Cumberland, Pa., Nov. I. Augustus Ebner, aged 89, one of New Cumberland's oldest and best known citizens died yesterday morn ing at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clayton W. Miliar, after a brief illness. He moved to New Cum berland about thirty years ago and took a prominent part in real estate activities in the lower end of the borough for 'years. He built up a greater part of the section of the town below Second street. Mr. Ebner was born In Germany and camo to America in 1843. He won honors during the Civil War in the One Hundred and Sixty-fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was a charter member of the Cltimens Hose Company, of this place, and is also a member of the B. P. Elsenberger Post, G. A. K. He is survived by the following chil- * dren: George P., of Harrisburg; Frank E. Brainerd, Minn.; Mrs. An nie Mellinger, Lancaster; Mrs. Clay ton W. Miller, Miss Mary and Miss Flora, of New Cumberland. Funeral services will be held Saturday morn ing at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Miller and will be private. Friends may view the body Friday evening froin 6 to 9 o'clock. The Rev. H. 8. Heighes, pastor of the Church of God, will ofticinte. Burial will be made at Newberrytown, York county.
