Parson read , a brief history of the church, stating that fifty-seven years ago on the same day the bethel had first been dedicated. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Dr. A. P. Stover, of Car lisle. The cost of repairs amounted to between S6OO and S7OO dollars, and all but about $l6O of this amount, was raised. A movement is on foot among MlU ersburgers to inaugurate and en courage a system of letter writing to the soldier boys in the army. The idea is that each family which has a son in the army will arrange with six friends to write in succession a letter each day so that with the let ter received from his immediate family he will receive a letter from his home town and friends every day. At the age of 15 years he became a clerk in Foltz's store at j Deodate where he remained for five j years. He then taught school in the first year that Dauphin county had a j county superintendent. Park Wogan, manager of the Mount Wolf Furniture Company, motored with a number of friends to a place near Parkton, Mi, on Saturday evening and Indulged in a fox hunt. On Sun day morning while returning home a chicken attempted to fly In front of the machine. The machine struck her and several miles further Mr. Wogan stopped the car to leave one of the party out and an egg was found on the running board. —At a recent meeting the borough school board called into consultation the teachers who are to have charge of the school for the coming year. The school term will begin August 27. Prof. C. H. Everhart will be the principal. Mr. Everhart has taught school in this neighborhood for many years. Miss Bertha M. Fischer, of Emigsville, will be in charge of the secondary grade and Mfss Pearl Shenk will again have charge of the primary classes.—Mr. and Mrs. C. H.
