Referees who awarded compensa tion in such cases are reversed and appeals announced as sustained as the referees are without Jurisdiction under the Supreme Court decision. The cases include Ross N. Hogen tolgler, Harrisburg, and Harry Les ter Booth, Harrisburg; William J. Pastorius, Harry Smith and Thersa Knab, Philadelphia, and Charles A. Myers, Gordon, against the Philadel phia and Reading Railway Com pany. A modified award is made in the case of McManus estate, Pittsburgh, vs. Winter Garden Company. Private l<ane Case. The Public Service Commission has listed for argument Monday the cases in which the jurisdiction of the com mission over private lanes in grade crossing abolition has been raised. These cases arose in Bensalem town ship, Bucks county, where the Penn sylvania Railroad seeks to abolish grado crossings. A number of Phila delphia industrial siding and grade crossing cases are listed for later In the week. Magee, of Pittsburgh, as a Public Service Commissioner. Mr. Magee is considered as a very probable candi date for mayor of Pittsburgh and there have been persistent reports that he has resigned. Mr. Magee is not here. Smith, son of Ward Leader Peter E. Smith, of Philadel phia, as chief of the bureau of sta tistics. Tioga List.—Tioga county town ships have been certified for pay ment of $17,238.69 under the town ship bonus act. Covington and Jack son townships failed to file reports and lose their shares. To Ask New Bids. —Highway Com missioner Black will ask new bids for the contracts advertised some time ago and on which tenders were opened on August 7 except on the Shlckshlnny work. This contract will go to O'Brien Brothers Co., Avoca, at J51.178.70. The bids for the roads in Foster township, McKean county, have also been rejected. R. B. Tay lor, Bellefonte, has been awarded the contract for the road work ln Somer set county, route No. 51, at $81,428.35. KILLED BY THRESHER Marietta, Pa., Aug. 10. lrvln Sweigert, of near Colerain, was killed yesterday when a treshing machine passed over his body. He fell from the front while driving. He was 33 years old and is survived by his wife, his aged mother, a daughter and a number of brothers and sisters. CLOSING SERVICES ATSTOVERDALE Ring Service and a March Around Auditorium Final Features of Campmeeting Stoverdale, Pa., Aug. 10.—Stover dale campmeeting closed last night with a ring service participated in by the cottagers and visitors. Many persons in the surrounding com munity were unable to attend the services owing to the weather condi tions. The closing exercises Included a song service followed with the farewell evangelistic meeting con ducted by Miss E. HuiUnger. Brief remarks were made by thb Rev. William Beach. The closing feature was the march around the inclosure of the auditor ium in single file singing "We're Marching to Zion" and "We'll Never Say Good-By In Heaven." The benediction by the Rev. Wil liam Beach, formally closed the camp. One of the pleasing features of the services was the singing of the Brown brothers trio und solos by Master Harry Brown. He began to sing in public when he was three years old. Glenn Earl Brown, when he was but two years and Charles Richard at four yeai-3. They have been invited to isng in the Royalton united Brethren Church on Satur day and Sunday evenings, September 1 and 2. Mrs. J. C. Bievl and family and Miss E. Hulllnger, who have been occupying the Hickory cottage dur ing campmeeting will leave the grove on, Saturday. Mrs. Bievl and family will go to Columbia, where t'.iey will spend a week before returning to their home at Mahanoy City.
