GOVERNOR YETOES NINE MEASURES Among Them, Diax Relief Measure Which He Says Was Carelessly Drawn Governor Brumbaugh to-day an-1 nounced that he had vetoed the Daix | bill providing for county system for | relief and assistance to the families of soldiers who are residents of the j state, saying it "is so carelessly : drawn that its purposes will be de feated if attempt is made for its entorcement." The Governor says that the purposes of the bill are wholly commendable but that it gives no authority for county commission ers to make payments and is defect ive in other respects. He adds thai the American Red Cross has under taken the work mentioned in the bill and that therefore it is unnec essary. Senate Bills Vetoed The Governor also vetoed these Senate bills: Providing a new method to take votes of soldiers in the field, which the Governor says is "commendable but not workable." He adds: "The present plan is better." Including all employes of the state government in the state pen sion system, which, the Governor says, is not necessary. "The ques tion will not arise before relief can be granted. . . . They are secure in their inclusion until the courts, if ever, exclude them," he says. Creating a state board of finance and revenue, which was designed to consolidate three boards, which the Governor says would mean an in creased cost of $7,400, and which would add $1,500 a year to "the sal aries of the Auditor General, State Treasurer, Attorney General and Sec retary of the Commonwealth, all now serving without compensation on the boards. He says: "In view of the necessity of denying maiiy worthy objects of state support be cause of insufficient revenue, it is palpably unwise to approve a bill which, in effect, is only a salary raiser and in no way an instrument of added service. This may be just ly styled "Economy at an increased cost." Authorizing Rosario Fantino to sue the state, the Governor says the man was hurt in Bellefonte and that there is a question whether he has a claim and that he does not see thiß propriety of having the suit brought in Philadelphia, as provided in the bill. The usual custom is to bring such suits in Dauphin county. "The plaintiff ought not to be given the choice of county in which to enter suit," says the veto. Validating certain debt elections on which the Governor says previous vetoes apply. School Code Amendments Amending school eode relative to suits by one district against another for tuition, etc., on which the Gov ernor says the effect would be to deny suits in the courts and that it gives no rights not now possessed. Authorizing justices to hold the office of notary, styled "superfluous." Authorizing investments of savings funds and building associations in war bonds, which is a duplicate of an act recently approved. Many Petitions For Judge McCarrell Are Filed at the Capitol Over a dozen nominating petitions to place the name of Judge S. J. M. McCarrell, of the several courts of Dauphin county, upon the nonparti san ballot for the September pri mary election were filed at the State Capitol to-day. Additional papers now in circula tion will be filed within a few days. The papers on file bear the names of many prominent residents of Har risburg and Steelton as well as the boroughs and townships of the coun ty. The list is quite a representative one of all parties and attests the high regard of the people of the county for the judge. Judge McCarrell was appointed by Governor Stuart to fill a vacancy on the bench and was soon after elected for the full term. ITCHING ECZEMA DROVE HIM CRAZY P. R. R. Machinist Tried Remedy After Remedy In Vnin Search For Relief TANLAC AIDS HIM AT ONCE "If there ever was a wonderful remedy it is Tanlac," says George C. Smith, of 194 7 North street, Harris burg, Pa., "for it helped me after doctors and other medicines had failed to give me the relief I longed for. "I had a sort of eczema all over my face and body and It Itched so that It almo9t drove me crazy and I couldn't find anything that gave me the slightest relief. "Doctors told me that it was caused by the oils from the machin ery as I was working as a machinist in the P. R. R. Shops, so I quit my job and got anotrtpr on a street car, but' the itching didn't get any better and I was almost insane from the torture. "Then one day I decided I'd take a crack at Tanlac and see what that would do, for I'd heard a lot of won derful reports about it and I sort of had a hunch. "Well sir, believe 1 me did the work. The second dose brought re lief and it was only a matter of days until my skin was all healed up, the itching stopped and the eczema I gone entirely.. V "No other medicine could 'ever' give me relief from the itching but "rtinlac' quickly freed me from the whole trouble. I cjn't begin to praise it strong enough." • Tanlac, the famous retfonst/ucUve tonic, is now being introduced here at Gorgas' Drug Store where the Tanlac man is meeting the people and explaining the merits of this . master medicine. —Adv. , PEA COAL J.
