ALL WAR ISSUES SOAR BRISKLY UPWARD Irregularity Indicated by Movement of Leading Stocks; U. S. and Bethlehem Steel Drops; Coppers Move in Narrow Lfcnits New York, Feb. 7. lrregularity was indicated by tr.e movement of leading stocks at to-day's opening. U. S. Steel fell over a point on numer ous sales of 1,000 to 3,000 shares, with 1 % for Canadian Pacific, over 2 points for Crucible Steel and one each for some of the shippings and prominent specialties. Bethlehem Steel lost 5 points. These setbacks were partly bal anced by one point gains for New Haven. Baldwin Locomotive and Pittsburgh Coal and two points for North American. Coppers moved within very narrow limits. Stronger tendencies developed by the end of the first half hour, all the war issues rising briskly. Renewal of demand for equipments and shares of concerns engaged In the manufacture of war supplies caused a sweeping rebound from the uncertain trend of the opening. Exchange gains of 1 to 3% points were registered by United States Steel and similar stocks. Bethlehem Steel regained its loss, Baldwin Locomotive rose 6 % with 2 each for American Locomotive and Airbrake and Metals were 1 to 2 points higher, with 5 for Central Leather. Motors and Oils followed the lead of aftiliated issues. Rails remained slug gish, New Haven showing irregular ity. Foreign bonds were heavy but U. S. government issues were higher on call.
