'''' M 3^ = * =:= " TUESDAY EVENING, HAHRISBURG tmm TELEGRAPH GREAT LABOR DEMONSTRATION 1,500 Union Workers, Uni formed, March Three Abreast Over City Streets One of the greatest organized labor demonstrations the city has ever wit nessed was given yesterday afternoon when more than 1,500 union workers paraded over five miles of city streets. It was the first general Labor Day parade of its kind for Harrlsburg and the men, marching three abreast, and uniformed, made an interesting scene. Many bands were In line and prompt ly at 3 o'clock the time set for the start, the front line of the parade swung out Market street. The route extended to Thirteenth street, to Der ry, to Fourth and Sixth, to Reily, to Second, to Market Square, counter marching in the Square. Fire bells rang as the men passed the engine houses and cheer after cheer was given as each organization passed by. Chief Marshal Frank C. Hoffman was assisted by the following aids: C. R. MAYOR SCOTT'S WIFE DIES Special to the Telegraph Hagerstown, Md., Sept. 5. Mrs. Helen M. Scott, wife of Dr. J. Mc- Pherson scott, Mayor of Hagerstown, died yesterday of uremic poisoning after a week's illness, aged 58 years. Mrs. Scott returned about a week ago from Clifton Springs, N. Y., where Mayor Scott had been under treat ment. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and two sons. PAINTING SCHOOL BUILDING Special to the Telegraph Hummelstown, Pa., Sept. 5.—A1l the painters of town have been engaged for the past ten days in painting the interior walls of the school building. Ail rooms and halls of the old build ing have been given two coats of paint. The work is now nearing completion and has brightened up the building very decidedly. Stricken suddenly with a heart attack while seated at the dinner table yesterday afternoon. Prof. William Lambert Gooding, for 18 years the occupant of the chair of philosophy and education at Dickinson College, died at his home here a short time later. Dr. Gooding had been in ill health for two years, but was able to continue his work. Had he lived four more months he would have been eligible for a Car negie pension. ARE MEDICINES LIQUORS ?
