Steel's prog ress was steady but none the less im pressive, the stock touching 94 before noon. Shipping stocks continued in favor, with new higher records for Marine common and preferred at 39% and 104 respectively; Atlantic Gulf and West Indies achieving the same distinction in its rise to 73 with further gains in Pacific Mall and United Fruit. All branches of the list were in cluded in movement except rails, Reading and Union Pacific furnishing the only strength In that quarter.
