GOVERNOR BUSY GOOD ROADS DAY State Highway Department Plans Strenuous Day in Nearby Districts Governor Brumbaugh on "State-wide good roads day" on Thursday has placed his services at the disposal of the State Highway Department and an extensive Itinerary has been planned. The Governor will be accompanied b* Private Secretary Ball and will ba escorted by Second Deputy State High way Commissioner George H. Biles and Statistician W. R. D. Hall of the de partment. The party will leave Har risburg at 8.30 and will proceed up the river road to Halifax, where thev will take the township road through Fisherville and Dietrich to Ellzabeth vllle. Around Halifax tho citizens and the members of the Mlllersburgr Motor Club will be at work and along the road through Fisherville will be others Improving the road. The main efforts of the citizens of the upper end will be connected on the township road leading from Ellzabeth viHe to Berrysburgr, where the main body of the members of the Millers burg- Motor Club, citizens' from Lykens, Wllliamstown and Oratz. with large delegations from Ellzabethville and Berrysburg, will he at work and it is planned to have Governor Brumbaugh join them to improve the township road. From Berrysburg the Governor will go to Mlllersburgr where the river will be crossed by ferry and the party will proceed up State highway route to McKees Half Falls. Retracing their way, the Governor and: his party will come down to Liver pool and proceed thence to Millersburg and Newport. Newport people have taken an enthusiastic interest in "State-wide good roads day" and have planned to work at Oliver, Howe and Miller townships. The Governor will visit each working: delegation and then jwill proceed over a township road leading from Newport to Juniata Bridge. On this road a bad stretch which has vexed the community for years will be tackled'. From-Juniata Bridge the Governor and his party will come down through Duncannon and Marysvlile to Wormleysburg and thence across the river to Harrisburg. Patterns Ablaze Start $4,000 Tailor Shop Fire Several loose patterns which fell on the lighted gas stove in the tailoring establishment of B. Bloom, 810 North Third street, yesterday afternoon, started a fire which caused $4,000 damage. According to Miss Bessie Loon, 522 Brown street, the patterns fell on the stove as she was removing one of the irons. The flames quickly spread when the burning paper fell to the floor. The girl escaped unharmed. The blaze was confined to the first floor but the adjoining house, 812 North Third street, was damaged by smoke and water to the extent of SSOO. Mrs. Mary Teupser, who lives at 813 North Third streets, owns both prop erties. Mr. Bloom, proprietor of Ihe tailor shop, was in New York at the time of the fire and his wife and one child were on the front steps when the blaze started. The loss is partly covered by Insurance.
