American Smelting and Mexican Petroleum also rose substantially on more favorable Mex ican advices. Some of the tobacco group and other specialties wore bel ter by 1 to 4 points and distinctive war stocks were 1 to 2 points higher. Marine preferred, Fertilizers and Pittsburgh Coal common and prefer red shares variably in the rise.
