Texas Company on its initial advance of 3 % scored a new record at 204. General' Motors was 5 higher at 426 and United States Alcohol 4*4 at 118%. California jind Mexican Petroleum valned a point or more, with similar advances in American ljoeomotive, Baldwin Locomotive, Laoka wanna Steel, American Car and United Fruit, while Marine preferred rose 2 % to 71%. Weatinghouse yielded a point and United States Steel lagged. Union Pacific and New Haven were firm fea tures among the railroads. The market moved listlessly through out the morning, sales of the tirst hour barely aggregating 150,000 shares, which established a minimum of operations for several months. Of this total such issues as Mexican Pe troleum and Distillers' Securities each contributed more than erstwhile favor ites like United States Steel. Coppers and war shares improved over early quotations, the former on prospects of another advance in the metal. United Fruit gained 1 % points at 161% and other unclassilied stocks were higher.
