Royal's request for the dismissal of Captain Joseph P. Thompson, acting chief of police, it was said in municipal circles tp-day. Action on Mayor Royal's request is due to-morrow but it is understood that instances can be cited wherein Acting Chief Thompson only followed precedent in releasing Harry Deen from jail. The release of been by Thompson, the mayor had charged, was insubordination. Residents whose roerty abutt on Brown street between Sixteenth and Seventeenth streets will be heard on the ordinance authorizing the vaca tion of the street.
