TAKES FAMILY TO PBISOX [From the Christian Herald.] When a man enters upon a term in prison, not only is the man punished, but his family, by that very fact, is punished as well. I talked with men who. separated from their families by the law. had no idea how these families were being supported during their in carceration. A prison sentence some times means the complete breaking up of a household. Children scattered or sent Into institutions; women com pelled to labor for their bread In ways to which they had not been used be fore tiie disgrace fell upon them. "Won't you try to do something for the old woman and the klda?" was the bur den of many an importunity which came my way before I was released. And I resolved that I would do every thing possible to help them. < STOCK MIIET FREED i OF 111 RESTRICTIONS Minimam Prices Removed After Most Active Trading Day Since July 30 Special to The Ttlegrcfh New York, April I.—The govern ing committee of tho Stock Exchange after the close yesterday abolished all minimum prices on stocks with this Significant statement: "Financial affairs throughout the country and our own foreign trade sit uation have so Improved as to remove the danger existing at the opening of the exchange." The importance of this statement as a tonic to the investor cannot be overestimated. The governors alto decided to re move nil restrictions on bond trading. This will permit the sale of bonds in anticipation of future shipments from Europe. Yesterday's resolutions restore Stork Exchange operations to exactly the status existing before the war. The decision of the exchange to re move the ban on minimum prices was reached after the most active trading day since tho final week of last. July. Transactions in stocks yesterday em braced 199 different issues, with a total of 742,362 shares. Bond dealings reached the aggregate of $4,491,500 par value. These figures compare more than favorably with normal days of recent years and Indicate that speculative and Investment interests regard the do mestic situation with equanimity. A large part of yesterday's op erations was in stocks of the special classes. Although the closing prices of representative issues were generally several points below their recent high levels, they were so far removed from 'th minimum as to show advances of 10 to 40 points from the Tatter level. While the minimum rule prevailed some three score stocks were subject to and supported by its provisions. NEW YORK STOCKS Kurnlshed by 11. M. Snavely, 2OS Arcade Building. New York, April 1. Open.
