At 2 o'clock the formal program opened on the Island with music by the band. Graham Makes a Speech President Graham in a brief address called attention to the excellent work of the Harrlsburg team and to the ability of Manager George Cockill, who is considered a second Connie Mack in baseball. He handed the trophies over to W. Harry Baker, presi dent of the Harrlsburg club. Ad dresses were also made by President Baker, Mayor John K. Royal and officials of the club. Following the presentations the players of both teams, officials and prominent guests, with the band lead ing, marched to the flagpole in center field, where the pennant was raised. The final game started at 3.15 this afternoon. Team AVins Morning Game Harrlsburg nosed out a victory from Reading this morning, score 5 to 4. Cockill's crew presented some changes in the line-up. Reagan caught and Miller played first base. O'Neill pitched. His support was not of the best Harrlsburg made their hits count. Harrlsburg started with three runs. Keyes singled to third, Cruikshank sacrificed, Hopke made a bad throw to second, advancing the runners, drist walked. Reagan singled, scor ing Keyes and Cruikshank. Crist took third on the hit, scoring on Rea gan's out at second. Reading Scores in Third Reading scored one run in the third. Nagle singled and stole second and scored on Joyce's single to center. The wind gave Hopke a hit, but it did not help in the runs. Charles Miller, with three balls called on him, hit the fourth ball for a circuit of bases. The ball landed near the signboard, allowing Miller |to reach home without interference. _ With two men down in the seventh, Nagle single to center. McCarthy jug gled Clunn's grounder, Nagle taking I third. Emerson dropped Joyce's fly, allowing Nagle to score. Reading Fills Bases Three singles in succession filled the bases for Reading in the eighth. Coveleskie, who started the trouble, scored when Nagle was walked. Harrisburg scored one in the eighth on Miller's single and stolen base, Hogan's out at first and McCarthy s sacrifice fly. Joyce scored for Reading in the ninth. BEFORE COUNCIL Commissioners Will Also Consider Laying of Front Street Water Main Among the measures scheduled for final passage by City Council to-mor row is the ordinance offered on August 4 by Commissioner H. F. Bowman, providing for the official opening by the city of Front street to the low wa ter line on such sections heretofore that have not been officially placed on the map. The measure specifies the section ex tending from South Btreet to a point sixty-five north of Liberty and from Harris to Maclay. The ordinance had to lie over for thirty days before final action could bo taken and this expired on Friday, the city fathers must take it up for final disposition at the session to-morrow. Both City Commissioners H. F. Bowman and W. H. Lynch were out of town to-flay and the postponed stroll of the city commissioners through the river front park to offi cially inspect the trees could not be made this morning as per schedule. No Date For Stroll Just when the councilmen will make the tour in order to determine for themselves the relation of the great old trees to the proposed line for putting down the new water mains in the park paths, has been definitely determined. Council is due to act to morrow on the resolution offered at a previous meeting, to reconsider ita previous action in awarding the con tract for putting the pipes in park. Two bids for placing the mains had been received, one for the park path and the other for the street. The for mer method would be some $4,000 cheaper and for this reason Commis sioner Bowman "recommended the park paths. . The excavation incident to the job would seriously harm the roots of the trees and probably cause their de struction at an early date it has been pointed out and the resolution to change the award was introduced be cause of advance criticism.
